New Wii colours and a price drop?
Monday 18-Dec-2006 10:23 AM New colours for Wii, a price drop and remodelled DS rumoured for next year
According to internet rumours cooked up this weekend, both of Nintendo's recent consoles could receive re-releases next year, with price drops and re-designs hinted at.
First off, website GotFrag reported of a Toys 'R' Us manager who stated that Nintendo will re-release Wii in Spring 2007 in a variety of different colours, like the ones shown at E3 2005. He also speculated that the "better machine" will come with technical upgrades, and a drop in price to $200.
The "better machine" he's talking about could be the already confirmed DVD movie-playing version of the Wii, but we'd doubt it'll be cheaper than the current machine.
The other rumour from an undisclosed source is that Nintendo will release yet another redesigned DS in Japan next year, smaller in size but with bigger screens. Granted, every time Nintendo released a new DS, or even just a new colour in Japan, it seems 90 percent of the population spends two nights camping outside shops to get one, but again we doubt this rumour holds any weight.
We're on to Nintendo and will let you know.
