Feel free to merge mods, couldn't find the OYA thread...

A English poster over at Newsarama claims to have news that Allan Heinberg confirmed that YA Season 2 is all plotted out and that he will be co-writing with a yet to be named writer (has to be Loeb).

The news comes from the Bristol Comic Expo which Allan confirmed he was attending this weekend here...

Heinberg in England, May 12-13
Just wanted to let those in the area know that I will be taking part in this year's Bristol International Comic Expo (along with BKV, Kurt Busiek, Duncan Fegredo, Dave Gibbons, and my pal Eric Wight). At this point, I'm scheduled for at least three panels and a few signings, and I truly cannot wait. If you're in Bristol, I hope you'll stop by and say hello.

For more information:

See you soon,

Allan

Hopefully we hear something soon from one of the official outlets, but it looks like none of them are covering the expo at all.

I hope not Zeb. I didn't care for his YA, but Loeb I love.

Jesus Christ. Awesome comic book writer IMO.

If this is legit, then Loeb is the co-writter.

Quite a few of us in the YA topic noted the best option for vol. 2 of YOUNG AVENGERS would be for Heinberg to co-write it because he simply does not have the time to write regularly as a solo writer. He did fine co-writing JLA with Johns so this option should work.

As for who that co-writer would be, Loeb is a choice because he is an A-Lister. Although, quite frankly, his A-List work was mostly at DC or several years ago with the "color coded" Marvel works like SPIDER-MAN: BLUE or DAREDEVIL: YELLOW. His recent work since he's become a Marvel exclusive hasn't exactly been home-run's; his WOLVERINE is getting mixed reviews and ONSLAUGHT REBORN is a mess. FALLEN SON, so I hear has been amung his better recent works, but he's still in a bit of a slump and no one expects slumping writers to suddenly turn out masterworks again. It's possible, but no one bets on it. Except hardcore devotee's, and you know who you are. I wonder if he lost some spark after the tragic death of his son, combined with a hectic HEROES/SMALLVILLE schedule. He's still worthy of his status due to his terrific past works, in much the same way Claremont will always be an A-Lister. I'm just saying his work within the last year or so hasn't exactly been classic.

Zeb Wells wrote YA/RUNAWAYS with what had to be some of the lowest expectations ever after his NEW WARRIORS series and actually did quite well. I wouldn't mind seeing him get a shot co-writing with Heinberg.

But, Heinberg shares a writing studio ("The Empathic Magic Tree") with Loeb so he is probably the most likely. Let's just hope this double-team produces a grand slam.

Wells would probably provide better dialog, but if Heinberg's got everything plotted out already, the other writer is basically just a scripter. I doubt Loeb would do too much damage in that context, so I don't even mind if it's him. I'd just like some more Young Avengers as soon as possible, before I stop caring about the characters completely.

See guys, I wasn't going crazy when I said what I said in the NJF thread.

Yeah, I'm not getting my hopes up for anything. As good as YJ is, this long a delay is unjustifiable, as far as I'm concerned. They should've just gotten a scripter for Heinberg months ago; I think he's made it very clear through YJ and Wonder Woman that his priority is TV and comics aren't even on the same list.

LAWL! Young Justice.

I think he made that clear long before he even started writing YA when he said Bendis practically begged him for days to do it.

Blah, I almost wish he'd never written it and gotten me attached to the characters in the first place. Frackin' Heinberg. :cmad:

But then Bendis would be writing it and we'd be talking about how much this title sucks. Heinberg gave us a great one night stand over a 20 year marriage filled with hate and anger and you only stay together for the kids.

:csad:

Wasn't the whole idea Heinberg's? I imagine it just wouldn't have happened at all if he weren't there.

Not the whole idea, Bendis provided some of the groundwork. If I remember those interviews correctly. Oh and:

Vote for me comic brothers, I need your help.:csad:

I agree that this simple-measure of attaching a co-writer or scripter for Heinberg should have been apparent sometime last year, but many times at Marvel, what seems obvious is suddenly a struggle onto itself. Oh, well.

No solict date or anything, I am still not holding my breath.

And I voted for Darth.
