Song covers you DO like

I like the Gnarls Barkley cover to the Violent Fems' Gone Daddy Gone.

And of course, Sonic Youth's Superstar cover

If you're referring to Fall Out Boy's "Beat it", then I couldnt agree more. I listened to it and it damn near made my ears bleed. Where the **** do they get off trying to cover greatness?

Shadowplay - The Killers
Running up that Hill - Placebo
Hurt - Johnny Cash
I'm Afraid of Americans - Nine Inch Nails

'God Gave Rock & Roll To You' (Argent) - Kiss

'Good Times' (Easybeats) - INXS & Jimmy Barnes

'Should I Stay Or Should I Go' (The Clash) - Living Colour

'You Really Got Me' (The Kinks) - Van Halen

"Sunshyne," originally by Cream, by Thousand Foot Krutch.

"Unbelievable," originally by EMF, by Thousand Foot Krutch.

"Carry On My Wayward Son," originally by Kansas, and "So Help Me God," originally by dc Talk, by The Showdown.

"The Promise," originally by When In Rome, by Anberlin.

"Right Here Waiting," originally by Richard Marx, by And Then There Were None.

"Snap Your Fingers, Snap Your Neck," originally by Prong, by Demon Hunter.

"Beggin'," originally by The Four Seasons, by Madcon.

"Life Is A Highway," originally by Tom Cochrane, by Rascal Flatts.

"Peace of Mind," originally by Boston, by Stryper.

Remember, these aren't covers I necessarily prefer to the originals, just that I like. Also, "Beat It" by Fall Out Boy isn't bad.

EDIT: Oh, and I do have a lot more that I like than this, I'm just not posting everything I could possibly go and dig up.

Really love a lot of Metallica's covers that they did on Garage Days.

Turn the Page is a very amazing cover, they really gave that song a lot of extra energy.

Red- Ordinary World[YT]D3LFzkRFFCI[/YT]The original is by Duran Duran.

I like every cover and reworking of a blues song that has been done by Led Zeppelin.

-The Man Who Sold the World covered by Nirvana is so much more emotional and deep than Bowie's version.
In what way? They sound virtually identical.

Or does Kurt Cobain's voice automatically grant a song more emotionality and depth than David Bowie's?

Do people seriously like The Ataris' version of "Boys In The Summer"? They absolutey wrecked it. Seriously, their version is typically dumb teen rock. Henley's is one of the best recordings ever.

Anyway, it's pretty hard to top The Beatles, but I think Billy Joel did a much better job on "I'll Cry Instead" than The Fab Four.

Henley's was pretty boring and cheesy, like much of the music with his stamp on it.

At least the Ataris' put a little pep in it and were able to make something listenable out of dreck.

Not that I like the Ataris', my point is more that Don Henley sucks.

Yeah Yeah Yeahs do a neat cover of Sonic Youth's "The Diamond Sea". And they manage to shorten it to the good parts so its not twenty freaking minutes long.

Oh, and their cover of Sheena is a Punk Rocker is pretty great.

TV On the Radio do a great cover of Heroes, but it's an aquired taste.

Head On-Pixies

The Man Who Sold The World-Nirvana

Mr. Grieves-TV On The Radio

Satisfaction-Devo

Happiness Is A Warm Gun-The Breeders

China Girl-David Bowie

It's Not Over Yet-The Klaxons

Sea Of Love-Tom Waits

Superstar-Sonic Youth

Nuclear War-Yo La Tengo

Is That All There Is?-PJ Harvey

Any cover by Johnny Cash
Yes to every single ****ing one of these.

ESPECIALLY "Is That All There Is?". Polly tears **** up with that one.

It's page 3 and NO ONE has mentioned Van Halen's You Really Got Me?

Bruce Springsteen's cover of Elvis' "Follow That Dream" is a much better and more powerful version than The King's:
