As we all know, music can help you get through even the toughest life issues. I myself am going through my fair share of obstacles and a few songs get me through it all, even when I think of them.

While Avril Lavigne has some songs I like, I love the music from Canadian artist Skye Sweetnam. (And I've heard Avril and Skye are fierce rivals, but that won't stop me from liking the songs I like from both of them.) Right now I have become quite addicted to this song from Skye. It's called Number One.

It's your basic break up song, but since I don't have a boyfriend to break up with I just like the message of staying strong and looking out for yourself.

You're Only Human (Second Wind) - Billy Joel

Every time I've thought about suicide, I've always listened to this song.

That's Life - Frank Sinatra

I wouldn't put a song in helping me through life, made me think of a depressed deaf guy, but I like to listen to love songs that bring back the nostalgia of being a youngling.

"Life by the Drop" by Stevie Ray Vaughn is a good song to help accept things, I guess. "Nothing Else Matters" by any band/singer is a good song when you're depressed. "This too shall pass" by India.Arie is great because when things are going bad for me, I say to myself, "this too shall pass." It helps a lot.

Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D minor.

True, it may seem cliched since it's been used in several movies, but still, it's just that damn good.

Here comes the sun - The Beatles

Sunny - Bobby Herb

Don't You Worry about a Thang - Stevie Wonder

Pop Life - Prince

EveryBody's a Star and You can make it if you try - Sly and the Family Stone (basically most of Sly's catalouge)

Change the World - Eric Clapton and Babyface

Whenever I call you friend - Kenny Loggins

Walk On - U2 ( I fell like I can conquer the world after hear this song)

That's what Friends are for - both Rod Stewards and Dionne Warrick's version

The entire "white light, white heat, white trash" album by Social Distortion got me through one of the hardest things I've ever dealt with.

The entire "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" album by PJ Harvey.

"Miss Misery" by Elliot Smith

"Piano Fire" by Sparklehorse

"Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John

"1979" by Smashing Pumpkins

"No Child of Mine" by Marianne Faithfull and PJ Harvey

"Mushaboom" by Feist

"La Vie En Rose" by Edith Piaf

"Heroes" by David Bowie

"Rain King" and "A Murder of One" by Counting Crows

"Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan

"In My Life" by the Beatles

"In A Big Country" by Big Country

"Stage Fright" by the Band

"Hard Sun" (Indio cover) by Eddie Vedder

"Do You Realize??" by The Flaming Lips

"Don't Look Back in Anger" by Oasis

There are more but that's all I can think of at the moment.

I See A Darkness and I Won't Back Down from Johnny Cash's Solitary Man album.

All of Paul McCartney's Chaos and Creation in My Backyard, specifically Riding to Vanity Fair.

The Kinks' Do It Again, Good Day and Summer's Gone.

Jeff Buckley's Hallelujah.

Whatever I happen to be obsessed with at the time. For about 2 years, I listened to Linkin Park non-stop while writing fanfiction. Then I listened to almost nothing but the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Wicked. Now, I need a daily dose of Dangerous Game from Jekyll & Hyde the musical to get me through life.

Whenever I feel a bit down, I usually listen Do You Remember Rock N Roll Radio by The Ramones. It just cheers me up for some reason.

If I'm steamed about something, 'Island In The Sun' by Weezer usually takes care of business.

The majority of The Who's "Who's Next" album

Best of You; Foo Fighters

Falling Slowly: Glen Hansard and Mariska (something)

'3 Doors Down' ~ "Away From the Sun"
'Bob Marley' ~ "Three Little Birds"
'Kings of Leon' ~ "Use Somebody"

Well anything by Porcupine Tree and Elvis.

Blackfield....especially the second album and more specifically a track called Epidemic.

Spock's Beard: Day for Night

Def Lepard: Vault

Dream Theater: Awake and Images and Words

Dave Matthews Band: Everyday and Before these Crowded Streets

Korn: Issues, Take a look in the Mirror and Untouchables

System of a Down: Toxicity

And then for a when I don't have any specific problems: Bon Jovi, Motely Crue, Peter Gabriel....

While I'm not a particular fan of Foo Fighters, "Let it Die" has a special meaning to me, as well as "Unforgiven III" by Metallica.

Instant Karma

"Clocks" and "The Scientist by Coldplay

as well as Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve

I was going through some serious money issues a while back, and didn't know if I was going to keep my apartment or pay my university bills.

That was when I first heard "White Gold" by Metric. The song nearly made me cry my face off, but it helped me get through a difficult patch. It's just beautiful, in a strolling, melancholy sort of way. And the opening piano.......*sighs*

the title says it really

Phillip Glass always reminds me how beautiful the world is.
