Im a Fan of this series and wanted to see if anyone else way. You also talk about your favorite of the series.

A Sonic the Hedgehog comic was the first comic I bought with my own money.

It has been one of my favorite series. What is your favorite series of it?

I used to read the original Archie series religiously when I was younger. Since then, I'd pick up one or two a year just for nostalgia's sake, but I've gotta admit I got hooked into reading them regularly again. The new writer is awesome.

I can't get into any of the other series, though. All the stuff based around the newer games and characters just doesn't do it for me.

I do like the shadow the hedgehog series but you just can't beat the classics. :D

This was my favorite issue:

Never saw it. I stopped reading them regularly after #50 and only started picking them up again with #175, so there's a good 7- or 8-year gap between then and now. I missed a ton of stuff.

I know what you mean. I missed half of the Sonic X series and I am still trying to catch up. :csad:

If you've read the English Sonic comics, you wouldn't even bother with Archie. Those comics were pure gold, Archie's comics...awful.

I like alot of what Archie has put out and also what the English society has pushed out. What was your favorite?

If and when I get my scanner working again, I'll gladly post the UK Fleetway comics. The artwork and stories were superb. I had to drop the Sonic Archie comic 2-3 years ago. I'd seen better artwork done by toddlers.

I can agree with you on that in the Sonic X series.

This is one of the very first of the Sonic comics. Issue #13

The art you can see is from the 90's too.

whoa, Whoa, WHOA!

Okay, you can't hate on the Archie Series, guys, that's how I got started reading comics. If it weren't for the Archie series, I wouldn't be here, today, aight? I don't care if I can draw it myself (which, honestly, is part of the reason I collected them for so long, so I could reproduce the drawings myself as posters on my walls), we do NOT hate on the Archie Series.

And because there's only two-three titles involved, it had something that a TON of these big guys don't have and THAT is continuity. So nyeah!

I came on around 25 and read through 50 and onwards, collected all of Knuckles miniseries and a lot of his ongoing. I stopped getting it after I went to boarding school... around the time Sonic Adventure came out. But it still has a big giant soft spot for me.

I'd be interested in where I could find this UK series, since you guys speak so highly of it. Also, I was always mystified why the video games never used these AWESOME characters, but kept coming up with their own sucky ones.

It looks like I have a lot of catching up to do though.

I've found that catching up isn't particularly hard to do now. The new writer on the Archie Series (fella by the name of Ian Flynn, who apparently was just a fanfic writer that they really liked) has been bringing a lot of stuff back to the basics. They've still got the ridiculously huge supporting cast, but it's focusing more on the original folks, so it's pretty easy to jump back into.

I didn't read Sonic for almost 8 years, but the current writer's got me hooked.

I too am curious about the UK Fleetway Sonic comic series.I had uncovered scans from what I thought was the Fleetway comic, and honestly the artwork was dreadful...I'm hoping it had been a case of mistaken identity, cause it certainly wasn't from the Archie comics.I have read a few issues from the last couple of years of the Archie comic, and did enjoy it and had been interested in collecting the older stuff (with the the original look, instead of the new anime-ish look they were doing when I checked it out).I think older Archie stuff sounds great, and am a fan another Archie tv show adaption as well (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Adventures...love it even though I'm not too fond of the show it's based off of).The point it, I know Archie can be good stuff...but know nothing about the Fleetway comic and would like to see what it did with the characters.

Oh, you can be assured...some of the UK Fleetway art was awful. They had a main focused story, and then two pretty mediocre stories to go along.

But, if you can...see if you can get any of the Miracle Planet Fleetway stuff. Porker being revealed as a Metallix, fighting Sonic on the chain which is connected to the planets...awesome. I will scan it, sometime.

Sounds cool.

I Worship YOU! ALL THAT I AM IS YOU!!!:up::up: Why can't there be more people like you and me?! I agree with all of your thoughts. They did start putting in lame chracters like Mecha, Sally, and Cream. But they did put in some cool people like Espio, Shadow, and Dark Sonic.

?!

Sally was never in any of the games (except for a bonus level in Spinball....God, I have no life) Shame, too, because she's actually my favorite character out of the whole franchise.

But yeah, the Archie/SatAM characters had plenty of one thing that all the new Sega characters don't: personality. Every new game they crank out also has some bland new character devoid of any personality aside from bad anime stereotypes.

Have You Seen what happening? They are not going to dump Silver the Hedgehog and Jet the Hawk. Sonic Riders 2 is coming! (woot!) I wonder if they will do a comic series on it...

Ugh, don't remind me. Bland and blander.
