Honestly, I don't think either game looks particularly great.

The new Sonic is the typical "Sonic in the real world" thing they've been doing since Sonic Adventure. The appeal of which is baffling and completely lost on me.

Mario just looks kind of mediocre based on what they've shown so far. I'm more open minded about it than Sonic, but I'm really not impressed with I've seen.

If, in 2006, you told me a game about Mario using a hose to wash graffiti would be one of the best games of the console generation, I'd call you nuts. Odyssey doesn't look great to me, but I've learned not to question whether or not Nintendo can make an uninspiring concept work as an amazing Mario game.
