Sonic the Hedgehog returns to the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade

Sonic the Hedgehog, the first videogame character to ever appear in the Macys Thanksgiving Day Parade, (first appearance in 1993) returned this year to promote the new game, Sonic Generations. Here's the video.

Sonic was the first to appear in the Macy's parade? That's surprising, I thought for sure it would've been some Nintendo character.
