Sonic The Hedgehog.

Holy crap, I loooovvved Generations! I can't wait for this game. And i'm glad Sega finally understood Classic, too bad they wasted Sonic 4 title

Meh... They've attempted this with Sonic 4, so I'm not as optimistic here. Nice they chose to use 3d rendered? sprites.

One of the things that has hurt Sonic game is lack of speed in some games. Sonic 4 was ok but the levels and music where good but sonic didn't move fast enough. Sonic lost word was even worse when it comes to that. In that game he moved way way to slow to the point where it didn't fell like a Sonic game at all and more like a Mario game or something.

Sonic 4 was made by completely different guys. The guy who is doing this game, Christian Whitehead, made the awesome Mobile Remakes of Sonic 1, 2 and CD.

In Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice, characters will need to use fire and ice powers to proceed through levels. Japan’s latest trailer shows how Sonic will combine his Air Dash and Spin Dash skills with these abilities to swiftly make it through areas while altering the environment.

[YT]hicKcIEXjpM[/YT]

In the first portion of the Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice video, we see how Sonic can Air Dash upward, freezing possible platforms around him as he does. As he Air Dashes back down, the fire ability lets him melt the platforms he had just created to return to the previous area. In the Spin Dash segment, we see him use a fiery Spin Dash to take out obstacles while he goes, while an icy Spin Dash forms a platform below him to protect him from spikes.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice will come to the Nintendo 3DS in North America on September 27, 2016. It will arrive in Europe on September 30, 2016, Australia on October 1, 2016, and Japan on October 27, 2016.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice’s Director Discusses The Challenges Of Level Design, Fan Feedback, And More . September 12, 2016 . 9:30am

In a recent interview with GameSpot, Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice’s creative director Matt Kraemer sat down to discuss what changes were made to the upcoming game based on what fans disliked in Sonic Boom: Shattered Crystal, the entry preceding Fire & Ice. Additionally, Kraemer also spoke about the challenge of making Fire & Ice’s level designs “more streamlined,” what it was like to work on a series as popular as Sonic, as well as the struggles of making the game accessible for everyone.

GameSpot: Could you speak a little about what you changed from the first Sonic Boom?

Matt Kraemer: One of the biggest changes is the level design. It’s a lot more streamlined, it’s a lot more made for speed. A lot of the stages that you see here are built for combo-ing. You can literally combo stages from the start all the way to the end. It was something that we didn’t have in the first game, it was more maze-like where you had progression where you would get to a dead-end and then you would have to go back and go at a different pace.
And there’s no progression blockers in the game. In the original game, you would play a stage, and then you couldn’t move forward because you had to collect these badges. We removed those gates so you can freely move forward at your will.

What were some other main points of feedback you got from the last game that you really took to heart?

The backtracking people really didn’t like; and just generally the sense of speed, the sense of combo-ing. The last game–I would [compare] it more to a Sonic game that has more of a maze-style layout. Like a labyrinth, you get to a dead-end and then you turn back. [in Fire and Ice], the path from A to B is a lot more straightforward.

What was it like working on a series as storied and popular as Sonic?

It’s been fantastic… To get the opportunity to work on Sonic, I mean, we grew up with Sonic, and it’s really an honor.
The first game kind of fell onto our lap. We’re not going to pass it up, it’s Sonic. I don’t care what time frame or situation we have, it’s Sonic, we have to do it. But I wish we had a lot more time to give that game the love that it needed. But I feel that we did that here with this [new game], and the team is really proud of it.

You mentioned that you wanted to make this accessible to everyone. Were there instances that you ran into where you were developing something and you had to tone it back?

Oh yeah. The original races when you’re racing against bots were way too hard. We toned those back a lot and did a lot of rubber-banding.
And the boss fights–some of those we had to tone back. And it’s surprising when you go into those playlists because you always try to get a really wide [demographic]. And you know who’s the better players? The younger kids. And the old dudes over there are saying, “Man, this is too hard for me!”
I think that a lot of the really difficult things are best left as optional. You don’t have to do them, but for the players that like the challenge, that’s there for them.
I think making it easier is better.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice Trailer Makes The Game Into A Romantic Comedy. October 28, 2016 . 10:30am

A month after Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice’s release,
Sega has released an official trailer edited to make the game appear to be a romantic comedy.

16 comments Read >

Sega has released an unexpected trailer for Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice. In the almost two minute video, scenes from the Nintendo 3DS game are edited and arranged in such a way that it turns an action game into what appears to be a romantic comedy. Story scenes are interrupted by brief quotes that say things like, “11/10 – Tons of water – NGI” and “This fall, master the element… of love.”

In actuality, Dr. Eggman wants to collect Ragnium and creates a robot to attempt to accumulate it. This robot, named D-Fekt, initially seems broken, but soon becomes capable of altering environments drastically. Sonic, Tails, Amy Rose, Knuckles, and Sticks must use the power of fire and ice, as well as their own innate abilities, to defeat Eggman and D-Fekt and save the day.

Sonic Boom: Fire & Ice is immediately available for the Nintendo 3DS.

One of the big problems with Sonic has been the introduction of too many new characters, with most of them being poor. They should focus on doing things with the characters that already exist. Knuckles is a character that has not been used to his potential IMO. He is much better in the comics than he is in the games.

I hope Sonic does some Deadpool-style 4th wall breaking
