The Amazing Spider-Man Sony Pictures bankrupt? Spidey rights back to Marvel?

It wasn't so much reported as it was speculated.

And it's also speculation that they would automatically get the rights back. No one can be sure of that.

They might not get the rights back automatically, but that might as well happen. If Sony puts the rights up for auction, Disney's just going to buy it anyway. I'm sure Spider-Man is Disney's number 1 priority right now when it comes to getting movie licenses back.

It's not out of the realm of possibility that they could be outbid by another studio for the Spider-Man rights alone, or that Sony Pictures could be bought by another studio and the Spider-Man rights would go along with it. We just don't know enough, and anything is possible.

However, there hasn't been any word of Sony Pictures' financial troubles besides that one article, so I think everyone is getting ahead of themselves and just needs to wait for verification by more established sources.

If they put the rights up for Auction, there's no doubt in my mind that Disney would definitely end up getting it.

But, it would be funny if WB somehow got the rights. :funny:

The Spider-man, written, directed, and produced by Christopher Nolan. :hehe:

Well, you never know. Disney isn't the only film studio with a lot of money to spend.
Only Warner Bros. would be able to match them, as far as film studios go.

If Sony puts their movie studios up for sale & that would mean they have no intention of making any more Spider-Man movies shouldn't the rights automatically go back to Marvel ?

Not necessarily. No one really knows how it would work.

I agree, I also didn't like the style of his Batman films.

I have a feeling this is all false now, considering Sony announced a sequel.

Nobody announces a sequel a year before the first movie is even out. Something is fishy. Then again it could all be a marketing ploy to hype this movie up more. Who knows. Hell, they may even start filming number 2 next year and sell off the studio after filming is done so that they can make more money and still sell off.

Well, a few studios have done that. WB was already in pre-production on a second HP film before the first film even come out, and they started shooting the sequel three days after the first film came out. Stranger things have happened.

I personally Sony did this maybe to raise their potential stock price in case Columbia Pictures gets sold in the near future.

Very doubtful Sony are going bankrupt.

Also, Chris Nolan is a very talented director. His style currently wouldn't fit with Spidey, but I'm 100% sure that if he took it, he would change to suit spidey.

That said, it will never happen anyway.

Chris Nolan would do wonders with Spidey. I don't know what it is with people thinking just because he does Batman in one style means he'd have to do that with every adaption he directs.

^Exactly. Some people are narrow minded in their jealousy of Nolan and Batman.

I don't want him anywhere near a S[ider-Man film. And it's NOT because of jealousy or any of that, it's simply because (don't get made for me saying this) his style wouldn't match Spider-Man. Spider-Man is a lighthearted character and always has been despite your occasional dark stories. Besides, even if he directed a Spider-Man film, I don't think he'd use a lot of the Vllains we love such as Sandman, etc because they'd be too "fantasy" oriented. His use of realism works for his Batman films, but for Spider-Man? It's a different story.

I don't really want Marvel Studios having the movie rights to Spider-Man, I don't like the feel of their movies, and I certainly don't want Spider-Man apart of that Avengers flick.

Nolan's used supernatural things in his past movies anyway. Prestige and Inception for example.

The reason he goes the "realistic" route for Batman is because it fits very well. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't do the same to Spidey.

Anyway, I'm still glad Webb is the director here and I think he would have been a better choice over Nolan anyway.

If Nolan was to produce/direct a Spider-Man film, I wonder what kind of villains he would use. Just a fun thought. lol
