Venom Sony Revives 'Venom' Solo Movie - Part 4

So this is even shorter than that. It came out in October so barely two months.

Still 4 months in the UK. We have some weird law for cinema to home release transition, so the DVD/Blu-ray isn't out until Feb 4th here.

Cool, this is coming out shockingly quick. I can ask for it for Christmas without having to spend a dime on it.

Was hoping we were getting a directors cut. Then again, we may yet still. Sony's def cashing in on the holidays first. Maybe we'll get a re-release next year.

Damn, they're actually including deleted scenes!

Idk why I'm surprised by this, but I feel like so few DVD releases have been including that kinda stuff over the last few years, especially films where it was reported there were a lot of unused shots/scenes/edits. I feel like the trend's become for studios to ignore them and pretend like they never existed and the final theatrical cut is EXACTLY what they always intended lol

This is awesome

So at the 7:37 mark here, one of the screenwriters for Venom teased that Spider-Man could play a significant role in a Venom sequel:

Will have to remember to listen to this later.

If this is true, then that means Venom will be merged in to the MCU, since Disney is in control of Spider-Man's movie contract

They aren’t. Sadly Sony made a deal allowing spidey to be in the mcu but Sony is still in charge. But honestly I can’t see why venom can’t be in the mcu it seems like it could fit.

Yah. Honestly if we can accept that the Guardians and the Thor Ragnarok versions work in the MCU then we can absolutely accept Hardy's Venom can, film quality notwithstanding.

Apparently the "Ride to Hospital" and "Car Alarm" scenes suggest a different cut of the movie.

They could but I would t want that. Miles just got a very good movie franchise going

Shameik Moore's Miles Morales. Would cement this as the best novelty ever done for a cinematic universe.

Apparently they had a block party for the Venom movie in LA last Friday, and guess who crashed.

Unless Sony and Marvel want to establish Venom as definively an alternate universe (spider-verse) then I'd be against a Miles Spider-man fighting Venom before Peter.

Though if they did establish Venom and other Sony movies being in their own pocket universe then it could pave the way for a different take on Venom in the mcu proper at some point.

The digital/blu-ray marketing has been better than the theatrical.

LOL

‘Venom’ Co-Creator Says Film Critics Were Too Old to Appreciate Tom Hardy Film

With the year heading into its final two weeks, it’s safe to call “Venom” one of the most divisive movies of 2018. The Sony tentpole, starring Tom Hardy as one of Spider-Man’s most iconic villains, is one of the worst reviewed movies of the year (it has a 29% on Rotten Tomatoes from nearly 300 reviews), and yet that hasn’t stopped it from being a massive popular hit. “Venom” is the fifth highest-grossing film of 2018 at the global box office with a haul of $852 million, and the character’s co-creator Todd McFarlane has an idea about the divide between critics and audiences.

“It was a big roller-coaster ride. Visually, everything was coming at you,” McFarlane recently told Yahoo Entertainment. “I think at times the critics get it wrong in that they forget their age. They come in, and they’re 42 years old, and they come in with their attitude and they’re going, ‘Stop it.’ What if you were 16 and you were watching this movie? You would love it.”

McFarlane created the Venom character with writer David Michelinie in a 1988 issue of “The Amazing Spider-Man.” While the comic book creator admitted he is biased when it comes to Venom, he said Hardy and director Ruben Fleischer properly brought his original vision for the antihero to the big screen.

“This thing delivered everything it was supposed to. It was gnarly, it was nasty, it has a big cool Venom, which was what I was looking for. [That] was my bias — I just wanted to see the visualness of Venom that I had created 30 years prior,” he said.

McFarlane said “Venom” triumphed in comparison to the character’s inclusion in Sam Raimi’s “Spider-Man 3,” where Eddie Brock/Venom was played by Topher Grace.

“When the Topher Grace character turned into Venom, he didn’t really add a lot of weight,” McFarlane said. “I intentionally made him bigger because I always wanted it to feel like Peter Parker/Spider-Man was going up against an elephant and there was no way he was ever going to push him over. So he was going to have to come up with another way to trip up the elephant, which was gonna be to use his brain instead of his brawn.”

While “Venom” continues to make money overseas, the film is now available to purchase on digital HD and Blu-ray.

What scale is that figure in that blu ray?

Omg this is amazing lol. They REALLY are/have been killing the marketing for this movie/beyond. I'm thoroughly impressed

And that McFarlane quote is hilarious lol. I definitely don't disagree with him though. But while I may not think it's so much to do with age, critics are definitely out of touch due to their own egos, preferences/inclinations, bias', etc. Movies are rarely reviewed in a vacuum anymore, which is how it should be
