Sony to Acquire Gaikei

Sony gives KAL $50 every time he says that.

#gamechanger for Kal and his family.

On a serious note, this is pretty big news. It opens the doors to many possibilities. Hope they put it all to good use.

Sony Computer Entertainment boss Andrew House has spoken about the company's recent acquisition of cloud-gaming service Gaikai to the Wall Street Journal.
Although the original announcement was made by Sony Computer Entertainment, it seems as if the Gaikai deal will have ramifications for Sony in general. In the interview, House said that bringing the service to products other than Sony's game machines was "absolutely within the frame".

He also said that the deal was a "recognition on Sony's part that the cloud and cloud streaming technologies are going to have profound and possibly a very positive impact on not only our game business, but also in the way our consumers interact with and obtain content in general."

The obvious beneficiary is Sony's Bravia TV range, since the Gaikai service already operates on Samsung televisions (it's unclear whether this deal will remain in place in light of the recent Sony deal). But it's not just about widescreen LEDs and Plasmas: Gaikai could also theoretically be used to bring the PlayStation's entire back catalogue to Sony tablets, PlayStation Vita, and Sony mobile phones.

If you're still unsure about the whole Sony-Gaikai deal, and what it means for you - the gamer - read Keza's editorial in which she connects some of the dots

and here's a link to that article which highlights the ramifications it could have for gamers: http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/07/03/what-sonys-gaikai-acquisition-could-mean-for-gamers
