^Pretty cool, wouldnt mind him looking like that in a sequel at all.

Very cool....too bad he probably won't look like that. That manip looks too much like G1 Soundwave....and considering that Prime is the only Transformer in these films that look somewhat like their G1 counterpart, I really can't see movie Soundwave looking anything like this. It would be nice though.

I agree. Very cool design but a little too much like a G1 design to wind up in the movie I think.

The only thing that turns me off of making Soundwave a military communications vehicle is that he would end up being roughly the same height as Ironhide and Ratchet, and I've always seen him as being the same height as Starscream.

That is why I've started to warm up to the idea of making him a spy satellite. It a lot more original, plus if Megatron retains his alien jet alt. mode, it would be a nice homage to G1 where Megatron and Soundwave both had unique alt. modes.

Sounds about right, except that's not a manip. Dynamo is just good like that.

That design goes with the flow of the Decepticons being military/authorative vehicles though. And are you sure Soundwave is meant to be as big as Starscream?

It'd be appropriate being that Soundwave is the loyal side of the Decepticon spectrum, with Starscream being the symbol of treachery. But it'd be cool too for Soundwave to not be a big lug like most of the Decepticons were in the film: someone who bridged the gap between them and Barricade.

He was often drawn, in both the cartoon and comics, as being a comparable height to Megatron and Starscream. Which has always made sense to me. Plus, the satellite idea would make him stand out a bit. But I do like the military communications van idea.

Good guys: "hey guys, why is there a military surveillance vehicle parked over there?"

:whatever:

One thing I saw in the other thread where this design was shown, was that it included a design concept for Ravage (based on a tyre). That was heaps cool. Ravage is one of my favourite Transformers and I think a key aspect of Soundwave's character is the idea of minions. It wouldn't be hard to do Lazerbeak as a satellite dish either.

Top work.

It's not like the others used perfect disguises to blend in. One was a Helicopter, another on a Jet, one even a freaking Tank. The only ones that were able to move around without raising any suspicions were Bonecrusher and Barricade. Anyway, it would be cool if Soundwave would maybe be able to Transformer into 2-3 different vehicle modes. Being a spy, it would make sense for him to be able to Transform into different forms for various situations.

This soundwave design looks better then anything I saw in the movie! Good job man!

Cool? A stealth assassin Decepticon which can transform into... a spare tyre...?

I don't know if it's just me, but I'm having difficulty finding any 'cool factor' in a tyre.

Isn't this pretty old? I thought I saw something like this before the film came out..

^I believe Soundwave was in the early drafts of the script but he only had a role the size of what Barricade had in the movie, so they left him out to give him a bigger role in a possible sequel.

I thought Soundwave was gonna be Frenzy in the movie but they changed the name.....

We want alt modes that are relativily useful on Earth/Combat. A freaking satellite will just hang out in outer space and fire lazer beams at best. It would be cool to have him that in the beginning of the movie, but this communications vehicle is the best rendition so far (although this particular design is a bit blocky like G1, not so much in line with the movie). Same general concept a bit better rendition.

I would however LOVE lazorbeak to be a U.A.V. with combat capabilities. That would honestly just be too damn sweet. A U.A.V deployed from Soundwave.

His 'cool factor' doesn't come from his alt mode. It never did.

He's always been cooler as the cat.

The wheel mode allows him to detach and roll as Soundwave is driving along. He, presumably, will be able to reformat at will, like movie frenzy.

Laserbeak is the satellite dish on top of the vehicle mode.
