Spamalot: The Movie

I was wondering if they'd ever get around to adapting this for the screen. They could have a lot of fun casting this.

I saw it live. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed. It felt like someone quoting month python to you but without the original humour. It might have been overhyped for me though and to be honest I wasn’t in the best of moods when I went to see it

So, basically...Monty Python and the Holy Grail?

Yeah, it came out in 1975. :oldrazz:

Fox is eyeing Benedict Cumberbatch, Peter Dinklage and Tiffany Haddish for King Arthur, Patsy and Lady of the Lake

Fox is currently working “knight” and day on a film adaptation of the Tony-winning musical Spamalot. Even though shooting wouldn’t begin until next summer, the quest has already begun to find a cast.

Spamalot, inspired by the 1975 cult favorite Monty Python and the Holy Grail, is the irreverent retelling of the Arthurian legend, featuring the Knights of the Round Table, a diva Lady of the Lake, and a God-given quest.

THAT HASHTAG SHOW HAS DISCOVERED THE STUDIO’S TOP CHOICES TO JOIN THE SPAMALOT CAST ARE BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH, TIFFANY HADDISH, AND PETER DINKLAGE. THEY WOULD BE PLAYING KING ARTHUR, LADY OF THE LAKE, AND PATSY RESPECTIVELY.

That Hashtag Show has also obtained the first Spamalot character details:

KING ARTHUR

King of England. He proclaims himself King of all Brittons and amasses a small army of knights. These knights include Lance, Robin, Dennis Galahad, and Bedevere. Arthur sets off on a quest, as instructed by God, to find the Holy Grail.

LADY OF THE LAKE

“A dazzling and powerful diva.” She presents Arthur with Excalibur. Arthur summons her to prove that he’s King to Galahad.

PATSY

Arthur’s trusty page. He bangs two halves of coconuts together to make it sound as if Arthur’s riding a horse.

Oh my gosh Tiffany as the lady of the lake is genius. Can she sing though?

I'd love it if all three of them played those roles, but for some reason Haddish is the only casting I can actually see coming to fruition.

Oh man, if they get all three of them, that would be fantastic.

Is it true that the other members of Python didn't dig Spamalot? I think I remember reading somewhere Cleese was fine with it, polite praise, but the others all felt it was like a watered-down rehash of the Python-proper stuff.
