***WARNING! THIS THREAD WILL CONTAIN MAJOR SPOILERS FOR EVENTS UP TO THE LATEST EPISODE OF ARROW, AND HEAVY SPECULATIONS ON FUTURE EVENTS***
With that out of the way:
At the end of the episode, we see Laurel ask Oliver to make her a promise shortly before she dies. The question though is this:
What do you think Laurel asked of Oliver, and when do you think this will get revealed?
The immediate reaction I've seen are people speculating/dreading that it would be along the lines of Oliver reconciling with Felicity, etc and this holds some credence not just from a meta/behind-the-scenes perspective but also given what they were just talking about.
However, I personally think/hope that it is that Laurel is asking Oliver to promise not to kill Damien Darhk and that he would instead face trial for his crimes. The reasons for this are that it would be in keeping with her character and identity as a lawyer, would be her continuing to advocate Oliver's "no killing" policy, and would serve as a nice counterpoint to Felicity (and likely, everyone else) saying that Damien needs to die.
A third possibility I can think of is Laurel asking Oliver to give up being the Green Arrow and instead to find a way to be a hero in the light. This would be building on some of the themes in this episode and season; such as Laurel encouraging Sara to be the White Canary, Oliver straddling trying to be both at the same time and failing, as well as echo a similar choice that Laurel faced in this episode that might be serving as foreshadowing to a decision that Oliver has to face. Incidentally, it's worth pointing that despite pulling out of the race, it was explicitly pointed out that Oliver still won almost half the votes. Maybe we'll be seeing Mayor Queen in Season 5, perhaps after Ruve gets exposed as conspiring with Damien Darkh?
What do others think? Any other possibilities that I might've missed?
