Soooo, no one is interested in this possible development and what it could possibly mean (Civil War)?
I wouldn't mind Speedball on the show. Like others, I couldn't care less about the Civil War storyline, but there is potential for a character like Speedball.
a.) because there's not likely to be a
New Warriors movie any time soon, nor would Speedball likely be used in the MCU elsewhere.
b.) it would be nice to see that not everyone who gets super powers becomes a villain (Absorbing Man, in some ways Deathlok, and eventually Blizzard and Graviton). Some young scientist who gets quirky powers and decides to try to use them for good would make a
great foil for Donnie Gill, if he is ever a major antagonist for the show.
c.) we don't need to see the exploits or formation of the New Warriors, but Speedball parting from the AOS team saying he wanted to find others like himself would be a nice set up for any future development. Maybe Skye or Coulson could give him the names of some other newly 'gifted' young people for him to seek out on his own.
I wouldn't really be disappointed if this rumor turned out to be nothing, but if I had to pick a side, I endorse the idea. The only major con I can see is putting his powers on screen and making them look good, but Absorbing Man was perfectly executed so I'm not too worried that they could figure something out.
