Point blank, you can't do something as dark and evil as the symbiote when you're working with so much cheese as the Spidey films. Heck, Raimi couldn't even pull a horror act with Doc Ock because Raimi had the tentacles sounding audible and thus sound ****ing ridiculous.

But being a "good" CBM isn't saying much when the caliber is VERY high.

NOTHING should be compared to Batman and Robin. Not because it's the worst movie ever and nothing's as bad as it but instead because it's simply in a league of its own in more ways than one. It really is a fascinating piece of work in movie history. How did it get made? Who thought it'd be a good idea? How did a normally stellar actor like Clooney keep a straight face reading those lines. Who thought Arnold would make a good Freeze? All these questions yet STILL if a movie like, say, the aforementioned Spider-Man 3 is on TV and so is Batman and Robin I'll watch Batman and Robin every time. It's a train wreck of a movie yet ohhhhhh so watchable and tons of fun. Nothing remotely close to it should ever be made again. It would be a crime against society. But I don't think anyone could if they tried. It was a fluke. An awful, abhorrent, laughable, embarrassing, BEAUTIFUL fluke.

About the only parallel between the two is the gutting of two villainous icons: Venom and Bane.

However, Spidey's main three storylines: Sandy, Harry's quest for revenge, MJ & Pete's troubles were all solid. It was just muddied with the ill-timed addition of Gwen, the misunderstood symbiote, and the horrible acting of Blowpher Grace.

Batman and Robin was just cringe-worthy all around. Everything was just horrendous. The closest thing Marvel has to something this monumentally awful is the Spider-man TV movie in '77, which was understandable given the time period.

With Sandman, it wasn't muddled with anything. Just certain scenes were taken away from the final product.

It doesn't quite make sense to believe Spider-Man 2 is the only Spider-Man film :funny:

People will ask..."Was there a first one?"

A little girl dying isn't as campy as B&R.

There are 7 Batman movies, one of them is simply bad and another one is a parody.

Not at all. Its the The Dark Knight/The Dark Knight Rises for the Adam West show.:woot::cwink:

Furthermore, Harry was written scads better the Ivy, and Bane of course. Maybe he was on par with Freeze when he wasn't goofing around. Your boyfriend hitting you isn't campy, either. Identity crisis is a good diagnosis for Spider-Man 3. Not to mention there's 3 movies in there.

That's how I felt after I saw The Dark Knight Rises.

I was disappointed with Spider-Man 3. The jazz club scene, the pie scene, the disco music, the ridiculous finale with the Stay-Puft Marshmellow Man-- dur, I mean, Sandman. It was all too silly for what I expected to be a dark and serious finale to the series. (Spidey 2 got my hopes way too high. That movie was amazing.)

However, I thought TDKR was a much bigger disappointment. I know Spidey 3 is cheesy and flawed, but it's still entertaining and feels "fun" at times. TDKR does not. It is a flat out boring movie with an uninteresting premise, that takes itself way too seriously and is almost a chore to watch.

I am proud to say that i enjoy watching all the Batman movie, the last 2 are so bad that it's funny to laugh at them and because their effects aren't bad i don't feel strange for watching it alone.

Hrm. To each their own then, lol. TDKR, imo, was an amazing film while Spider-Man 3 had much potential but turned out to be a mess that I can never sit still to watch from beginning to end. With all of S-M 3's potential, it turned out to be a disappointment, imo, and I can really say I only enjoyed three full scenes throughout the 2 hour and 40 or so minute time frame.

If Spider-Man 3 didn't have the amount of potential that it did, I wouldn't be so upset with it. But man... every time I watch the trailer for the movie, I get a little more hurt inside knowing how awesome the movie could have been.

    both movies were failures.

Spider-Man 3 was the equivalent of taking a physics test, not having studied the test material.

Batman & Robin was the equivalent of taking a physics test and falling asleep before even writing your name.
