Spider-Man: Brand New Day General News and Discussion Thread

Holland's still young , but he has lost a bit of his kid like looks , at to me looks very much like a guy in his Mid to late 20s.

I could still by him as a college or grad student , but he definitely fits the bill of a Spider-Man, as opposed to the Spider-Kid, he was in the first several MCU appearances.

🎵He makes the men go gay and the girls swoon and sway! He's the hot and sticky Spider-Man!🎵

This.

In a ideal scenario, we would have had a " street level" Spiderman 4 in 2023 or 2024 at the latest .

Then , by the next Avengers film , we would already have seen Peter's new friends, and new reality, before the next crossover film.

Now, when we first see the character again , he's gonna have to share screen time with a several other characters including Downey Doom.

So , we're going to have to wait until his own film , for the story to truly focus on him, as the central figure.

I know Spiderman / Peter Parker , is supposed to play an important role in the next Avengers film , but his screen time is still going to be limited in the context of Downey Doom, other variants,
current heroes, multiverse shenanigans, etc.

At the end of the day, when we see Spiderman again, it's gonna be in an Avengers film , not a solo film.
Blame it on the strikes

It’s a little bit the strikes but I also think Holland just needed a breather. Dude played Spider-Man six times in a five year period.

That as well. Plus the strikes resulted in Daredevil: Born Again being retooled, which may have rippled down to SM4's story.

Don't forget learning he was an alcoholic.

Sink admitted she was aware of the rumors about Jean Grey – but she didn’t confirm (nor deny) if it’s true.

“This is news to me… I have nothing to say about this,” she said. “The rumors are really cool though… it’s an awesome rumor.”
Horowitz asked her if she was aware of the character, and she replied: “I know the character… it’s a great character, so that was cool to read.”
There may also be a new love interest; whether that’s Sink’s character or someone else (possibly playing Black Cat) remains to be seen.
Sadie essentially says her role is a pre-existing character…evidently popular enough that she knows of it.

Edit: video in context is a bit less exciting than article, just said she’s read rumors about Jean Grey.

I know Holland's Peter is still suppose to be 19-20 ish, but, he'll be nearly 30 by the time this next one comes out, so Idk if a 22 y.o. Sadie is the best "love interest" option for him

hoping her character is something different to him

intrigued the the Mayday speculation, but, if it's just as the off-spring of some other multiverse variant of Peter and MJ that doesn't really give the character a significant connection to him personally

So if a Peter dates the daughter of their variant; is that considered a line that should not be crossed?

These are the questions the multiverse should be asking.

Is dating another version of yourself a taboo? Loki already flirted with that :o

This isn’t a Woody Allen movie. :o

Josh Horowitz: what are you looking for in roles going forward?

Sadie Sink: Ooh…I think what’s interesting to me is kind of like building something from the ground up…whether that’s like a series or a movie. I think that’s interesting to me…starting at the very early stages of something. But I’m very story-character driven…and love working with new filmmakers but as long as it’s a story that I love and a character that I resonate with…or a character that’s different from what I’ve tried before. I think that’s the way to go…because I’m young I’ve got so much to learn and the more that I can stretch [my abilities] and find new ground to cover as a performer I think it’s the better [for me].

Past and present Spider-Man 4 casting call from gossip hound DanielRPK:

“New Female Lead - A sharp and free-spirited woman with a mysterious past. Strong-willed, intelligent, and not easily intimidated. SET Sadie Sink

Female Villain - 30s-50s, any ethnicity. A powerful and imposing figure. Seeking an actress with strong and commanding screen presence and depth. Negotiation with someone (doesn't say who)

New Male Role - A resourceful young man in his early 20s.

New Male Role - 30s-50s, any ethnicity. A no-nonsense authority figure who sees the world in black and white. Loyal, determined, and willing to cross lines to maintain order.”

I'm a bit surprised Spidey isn't in Doomsday. But then I remember this is coming out almost 3 months after Doomsday.

alright now what are the odds this movie acts as a bridge between Doomsday and Secret Wars, kinda like Civil War did as a kind of avengers movie

It would be cool if Marvel let Sony do that so you could then in turn get Maguire, Garfield and other spidey characters in Secret Wars

I see the climax/ending leading to Secret Wars.

But the entire story of SM4 being tied to Multiverse again? And there's still that animated movie.

But SM4 is just out 3 months after Doomsday. It isn't similar to Infinity War/Endgame in which a Spidey movie wasn't released inbetween them.

Another rumor addressing that is that Spider-Man 4 would take place *during* Doomsday, with Peter left out of the proper Avengers stuff because of them forgetting him thanks to NWH.

…There could be a very slick way to use the events of Doomsday to provide the epic feel Sony might be desperate to have because corporate can’t think beyond buzzwords and escalation, but also still allow Peter to feel more “grounded” and street-level while it’s going on, following up on the ending of NWH.

Without his Avengers and Stark connections anymore, reduced to de facto poverty, but still an experienced veteran hero, Peter could be the “guy on the ground” while a massive battle rages overhead, almost running out of room and energy, but holding together in a plucky underdog way by saving civilians and dealing with smaller scale threats leaking through the events…

…And in Sadie Sink is playing any important character from the Marvel mythos, she could be equally trapped in the situation as he is, and we could get a slight contrast showcasing how Peter’s experienced compared to her and a chance for some minor “big bro Spidey” moments without him being in a position to come off as vastly out of her weight class, which Avneger Spidey kind of could be.

Just imagine Holland’s Peter run ragged dealing with even something like in-joke Sony Spider-Man Universe villains leaking out of Battleworld into New York while finding himself trying to get useful help from Felicia/MCU Jean Grey/Hope/Mayday without getting her killed, before some more tenacious and formidable villain emerges after him and we get to see what his actual, no-help supplied “weight class” is as a super hero.
