Spider-Man: Brand New Day General News and Discussion Thread

Industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed that Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios are currently casting teacher roles for Spider-Man 4. According to Richtman's (via Patreon) report, the teachers they're casting are assumed to be for Peter's college in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The film is expected to explore Peter's life as a college student, possibly attending the fictional Empire State University (Marvel Comics' take on Columbia and NYU) or even a community college, reflecting the character's reset circumstances after No Way Home. The focus on Peter's young adult journey, balancing his superhero persona, is something every MCU fan is excited to see Holland tackle.

Undisclosed role.

Could be mentor (surrogate Aunt May figure / perhaps a professor) and or the rumored female villain from the casting call.

"30s-50s, any ethnicity. A powerful and imposing figure. Seeking an actress with strong and commanding screen presence and depth. Negotiation with someone (doesn't say who)."

I don't watch The Bear , and haven't seen her act before, but my guess is that she's faculty at the college, or another supporting role.

I'm skeptical that she's the Female Villain .

She's really great in The Bear, so kinda excited about this casting. But yeah given the recent casting rumors, she's probably a college professor. Butttttt if I wanted to put on my tin-foil hat, she could potentially be Miles mom.

I think they’re waiting for Spider-Verse to wrap up in 2027. Disney may have to reach a new deal with Sony to use the character, I don’t know. Personally I’d hold off for as long as possible to start having multiple Spider-Men again.

Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige said:
Miles will appear in the third Spider-Verse, which is in production. I hope that, shortly after that, he can enter the MCU in live-action.

When asked for an update on the current status of the movie, Pascal said, “Someday. Not until we make two more movies.”
On Twitter, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse’s Christopher Miller added, “To clarify, when she said ‘not until we make two more movies,’ she meant Beyond the Spider-Verse and the live-action Tom Holland film.”

Today’s gossip:

Caveats:

Their ‘plot’ summary is ripped straight from Production Weekly.

Concept art is often based on actors that they don’t get (see also the leaked concept art for the new Fantastic Four).

Movie gossip seller DanielRPK commented on a very similar report elsewhere on Twitter with a “hmmmm (eye looking left emoji)”. A commenter on Reddit wrote the source is not good: “REDACTEDSpider is not a credible source, he spreads false info for twitter blue checks.” Another chimed in, “He is just a random on twitter that post spider man news that came out of nowhere and shouldn’t be trusted at all even tho the leak sounds real . The peng Zhang part is probably real but everything else shouldn’t be trusted”

I wouldn't be surprised if she's Lady Ock. Though the character isn't even rumored, but I can see the actress appearing as a villainess.

It's Jeff Sneider, so you know grain of salt, but he's saying Sarah Snook is up for a secondary villain role.

Edit- didn't see it was already posted in the time I was typing all this but figured I'd still leave it up since it talks about the source.

So take this with a super tiny grain of salt cause I've never heard of the source before. But this person was at a Disney Blockbuster Consumer Products presentation and in his Instagram post allegedly they mention the villains for BND as Scorpion, Boomerang and Tombstone. At first I thought it would be weird they would be talking about this movie at this presentation since it's technically a Sony movie but since it's specifically about licensing and products, it makes sense since Disney owns the full merchandise rights to Spider-Man.

Mmm. 3 villains interesting 🤔 .
4 villains if we count Mr. Negative.

I'm curious how it was possible, that those 3 characters were shown in a Disney consumer products panel if its really related to the next Spider-Man movie. Its a bit too early for that.

So with the new Avengers : Doomsday December 2026 delay , Spiderman Brand New Day will be set before Avengers: Doomsday.

I'd be shocked if Sony moved it to 2027 between Doomsday and Secret Wars , so , as of now, Brand New Day will be first , though , I still wonder if there will be hints of the multiverse coming undone.

I think they should move if they are in a similar situation like Doomsday. There's also probably gonna be a post-credits tease to the next Avengers movie. I can't see them not doing one.

I didn't think this is gonna be delayed too until I saw that article. So let me adjust my expectation. If its delayed, there's going to be 16 months without a new Mcu film. I think thats almost as long as the gap between Black Widow and Far from Home.
