Sup thwippers.

Title says it all. Counting down 'til blu-ray release of one of the best Spidey films put to screen! Will update with a photo of some sort for each day. Discussion of blu-ray content is welcome.

I'll start small. First photo is one of the first official images we got from the production. The classic curved logo.

I'm pretty psyched to watch this again. Usually the Marvel special features are kinda fluffy and disappointing, so I'm mostly excited for the deleted scenes and director commentary.

^ Thanks Donald!!!

I agree! They're known for being lackluster in that dept but this IS a Sony Home Entertainment release technically, so I'm not exactly sure.

And since the special features are out, no commentary listed means no commentary? Or would they leave that for a more in depth listing?

Disappointing that there doesn't seem to be a good special effects segment.
Those features look bare bones to me.

Unfortunately a lot of the movies in general seem to be like this now a days. The 1st Iron Man Blu-Ray from 2008 has way more content in it than some of the more recent MCU movies. I remember it when it used to be a big deal to get DVDs/Blu-Rays because of how much extra content they had.

the original Spider-man movie DVD had SO MUCH CONTENT, man i loved watching the concept art and even the documentaries in one sitting.

I know! It even had behind the scene videos from HBO and E! and even a gallery of commercials for the movie lol.

Aloha,
For me, what made Homecoming is the fact that Marvel was able to tell a story in which Peter Parker was given full credit for having the intelligence to create both the web shooters and web fluid. That Sam Raimi "couldn't see Peter inventing something that 3M couldn't", is the low point of the Raimi franchise. It misses the point of who Peter Parker is. In Homecoming he lives in an apartment complex not a mansion. He dumpster dives for the parts that he needed to make his web shooters. He uses the chemicals from school to make the webbing. This is the essence of the character and it shows that Marvel (Feige and co.) has the ability to present their characters on the silver screen like no other company.

Yeah, I agree too, Donald.
I also loved the emphasis placed on Peter's morality. The fact that he never punches was made fun of before the film came out, but in context it is clear that he avoids punching for fear of killing or seriously wounding the crooks he fights. One of my favorite moments in the film is on the Ferry when he asks a few of the crooks he just webbed up if they are ok. This makes him instantly contrasted against the Avengers, who, while not bloodthirsty killers, have shown no regret in having to kill more dangerous enemies.

Hey Nicko, didn't you head up a Blu ray countdown thread for ASM2 also?

Either way, good stuff man. I'm not too fond of the covers they have put out but oh well. And I'm not double dipping on this, definitely gonna wait until the physical copy releases in October.

I did! Haha. Thanks man.

Yeah, I never double dip for digital releases (ugh). I asked you in the other thread, but here's more appropriate. You getting Steel for this one? Might go well with your 4K if I remember correctly haha.

I beat your edit of the question in the other thread :cwink: But, yes, Steelbook for me. I don't have a 4K TV...yet. I'm still rocking the Samsung Plasma.

You usually get Steelbooks, right? What's your preferred method? I used to line up 10 mins before the store opened, but I can't get away from work anymore, haha. I've been doing the in-store reserve the night before and have done it three times now. So far so good but one of these days *knock on wood*, the employees will set aside a crap copy for me.

Yeah, I usually go for Steelbooks. My favorite method is intimidation. Lol, no, I've been lucky in the past where the ones I want I'm able to stop at the store on my way home from work and get there before it opens. This year, I may have to do a reserve cause I'm currently scheduled to work on the 17th.

Well good luck to the both of us then. If you wanna play it really safe, (if they let you) reserve 2 copies for a higher chance of getting a pristine copy. You can just refund the other.
