The worst thing people can do is compete Toby and Andrew, because i doubt the film will do that. to go into a movie like this you don't assume for one to stand out more than another. because there will always be a section of the audience unhappy by that.
Yep. I love both (Tobey Maguire more than Andrew Garfield, yeah, but regardless), so I'm going to be really happy to see both.

Kinda off topic, but does anyone feel like the post-Raimi villains have been overpowered? This isn't really a problem for me, Spidey is typically the weaker opponent when he fights his major adversaries, but it's noticeable, especially with the brutal ass-whoopin' Vulture gave him in their final battle in Homecoming.

It would be nice if this movie would somehow miraculously end the endlessly annoying ever-present TOBEY VS ANDREW VS TOM WHO IS THE BEST THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE debate always on social media.

I hope so too, those debates are annoying, but it's ok to have preferences. For me it's Maguire>Holland>Garfield, but that could change when I see the film.

As someone who loved Andrew as Spidey, I’m so happy he’s being in this. I’m glad his version of Spidey is being acknowledged and respected, since it seemed like Sony and the general fandom want to forget he was ever Spidey.
He definitely wasn't the problem with the movies he was in, he gave it his all and his love for the character still shone through despite the scripts not always being so great. He wasn't happy with the treatment either. Andrew is awesome and I'm happy he gets to have another shot at it. I remember he was all about Spidey being in the MCU as well before it happened, and I recall he was excited to just be a fan and watch that happen when it did happen.

I always thought Garfield made a great Spider-Man, the problem is that he was saddled with awful scripts that kneecapped his character.

Jinx!

I don’t especially think Vulture was overpowered, I think more that Homecoming underpowered Peter, especially when he held his own in an all out superhero brawl in Civil War and then gets curbstomped by a middle aged scrap hauler in a flightsuit.

To be fair, he had just survived a plane crash in his pjs, and Vulture was wearing armor. So it makes sense that Spidey would be in the one down position. I understand what you're saying though.

No beating was worse than the one Lizard gave Peter. I dont think he got one significant hit on that villain the whole film.

He smacked Lizard a couple of times but it barely fazed him. And I have to disagree with you on who gave Spidey the worst beating. Green Goblin in SM1 brutalized Spidey so bad, I still kinda cringe when I watch it.

I don't think TASM has all that many issues personally. and i say "not all that many" because like alot of movies there are a few things id change, but i don't think the script was bad at all.

Would any of you be open to a female big bad in a Spidey film? Even if they have to gender-swap?

I don't know. Honestly,I'm kinda tired of all the gender/race swapping in films these days. But if it was a great character then I could go for it. I mean, who are Spidey's female villains? Black cat? Anyone else?

Silver Sable is probably the closest thing Spidey has to a true female antagonist, but they're also grudging allies at times. I wouldn't mind if she and Kraven were the villains in a future film.

He has a few, but none that could really headline a movie. Most of them are glorified sidekicks or on/off allies.

That's my lone quibble with his rogues gallery. He doesn't have any great female enemies like Batman does with Poison Ivy or Harley Quinn or Catwoman.

Yeah I wouldn't really care to be honest. As you said he doesn't really have that many female villains. Silver Sable and Black Cat are basically allies and the rest are D listers. So I wouldn't really care if they had to gender swap someone but who I guess is the question. If they weren't already bringing back Foxx, they could have done the new female Electro. And I guess given Chameleon's powers, it doesn't really matter what his gender is.

We got a female Doc Ock in Into The Spider-Verse, so that was a good starting point.

I mean I wouldn't mind them using Ana Kravinoff instead of Sergei as Kraven too much, but I would prefer they stick to the classic version when/if they use him in a Spidey film.

Speaking of, it is still so weird that Kraven has yet to be in a Spidey movie, he's the only big bad from the comics not to be. I guess Sony really wants to wait until that solo film gets started.

I'm seeing new SM3 DanielRPK rumors popping up on my Twitter feed, and the recent one saying that Tobey Maguire is still working on a deal literally contradicts the one he started about Maguire acting like a diva on set. Not to mention, this wouldn't be happening so late into production.

This guy, I swear to Christ.

Idk why he's considered so reliable when his scoops are only slightly more accurate than Grace Randolph's or We Got This Covered's.
