If the movie gets delayed again, that would be kind of a bummer, but December 2021 to May 2022 isn't that long of a wait. Either way we'll still be getting more info and promo about the film as the year goes on, so there's still stuff to be hyped about.

Though, here's the thing: isn't ITSV's sequel still coming out in 2022? Would it be a bit overkill to have two Spider-Verse movies in the same year?

Yeah, October 7th of 2022. Pre-pandemic the original release date for that was gonna be on my birthday.

I was hoping to see it on my birthday as well by then (it probably would have released April 6th here since it would have been a Thursday and I would've gone to see it the next day).

So 2025 then? :o

If by the end of the year the pandemic has somewhat been manageable in the US, then the movie can still be released in December 2021. No reason to start assuming the movie's delay is certain just yet, especially when you imply that it would be in an indefinite sense.

As I said, even with a delay we'll still be getting stuff to be hyped over this year, like trailers and new info.

I just hope whenever it does come out everyone is able to see it at the same time and enjoy it. If the pandemic has become somewhat mangeable by the end of the year than I see no reason why this couldn't be the first post pandemic billion dollar plus film which will only add to the buzz and hype.

Its the perfect MEGA-EVENT level blockbuster to bring people back to the theatres. A delay wouldn't suprise me either though, but if its for the best than so be it. I definitely don't see Sony putting it on anykind of streaming service either which would be a huge disservice to film itself aswell as the fans.

That's funny. Especially with the variants flying around now. People believe 2021 will be manageable the same way people thought and hoped 2020 could be manageable by year's end? You all underestimate both how viruses spread, and the stupidity of people across the board to keep themselves safe.

Well by that logic, hope you enjoy seeing the movie in 2028. I'm sure it won't be a bother. :o

Sony wouldn't let the movie be delayed too late. If push comes to shove, I can see them doing a simultaneous theaters/home release.

...people really miss the point of the sarcasm emote, I really don't know why I use it. :funny:

No, I see your sarcasm. But also don't get folks acting like 2021 is gonna be the year when things magically go back to normal. Unless they're just delusional.

That's what I'm hoping for.

At this point it'd be foolish of Sony and Marvel to not keep that option open. Even if the pandemic is under control by December, lots of people, myself included, might still be gunshy about going to crowded places like a movie theater.

Well, Kevin Feige is still being stubborn on solely releasing Black Widow in theaters, so... fingers crossed.

This is all hypothetical at this point either way, so best not jump into conclusions for the time being.

If they decide to have Disney plus release too. I could see them pushing the release closer too.

Its clear streaming films isnt a bad choicr marketing wise as Mulan and WW2 did fantastic.

Hell films have been doing great for years on streaming. So I see no reason why a film about one of the top 5 superheroes starring an A-List cast would be any different.

If it came down to it, I'd still try my darndest to see it in theaters still. I feel like it will be one of those movies that you just have to experience on the big screen and be blown away by.

Plus I don't want to watch a movie with Tom Holland, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's Spider-Men teaming up to potentially fight against an interdimensional Sinister Six on a small TV or phone screen. Just... no.

At this point in the US I'm not too hopeful things will be functioning again and totally safe by the end of the year honestly, I'd love to see this in the theaters but I don't see myself going into a crowded room with a buncha people for 2 and a half hours without becoming a ball of anxiety any time soon. Maybe by summer of next year haha. I dunno, we'll see as we get there I suppose.

I mean if I'm being honest I don't expect this movie to come out at the end of the year, but hey you never know because things can always change and I'm one of those people who tries to remain hopeful, but being relaistic it's probably not likely going to happen.

I just can't imagine not being able to see this on the bigscreen though even if I know its completely out of our control thanks to people still wanting to be stupid and ignorant.

Personally I'd rather suck it up and watch it at home than risk mine and my family's health for a movie, but who knows where things will be by December or next year? But yeah, I agree with you guys, a movie like this is made for the big screen, and having to watch it on a tiny phone screen would be disappointing.
