Well that settles it. They definitely aren't in this movie! I don't know what's more obvious, when Holland outright spoils or lies.

Actors lie all the time so this doesn’t surprise me at all.

I think there’s way too much evidence pointing towards them being it. Everything we’ve heard all leads to them making an appearance at some point, now how big of a role is another question.

Well, Foxx and Molina are confirmed, so no point in asking about them.
Not confirmed by the studio but by THR. And they only 'confirmed' Molina two weeks after GWW's report. When you ask him about those he has to talk about certain story elements then.

Idk, lying so outrageous could have an effect to his reputation. It is a difference if Tatiana Maslany says, that she hasn’t heard about anything about being cast and to say: No, no, they will not be appearing in this film.

Maybe they just have a cameo.

Just last week Tom was saying how this is the most ambitious standalone film ever, now he is saying that Tobey and Andrew won’t be showing up...idk we’ll have to wait and see obviously. I’m still inclined to believe that they’ll be showing up at some point in the film.

Jamie Foxx literally confirmed that he was going to be in the movie in his now-infamous deleted Instagram post. That is not up to debate. As for Alfred Molina, just because he hasn't said anything yet doesn't mean he isn't in the movie. THR is as reputable a source as they come so I don't know why you're dismissing them this easily.

Actors lie about things like this in these properties all the time and it has zero effect on they're career. The point is not to spoil the surprise, and to get alot of fans and the press off their tails, because they know alot of fans will buy the denial.

I mean, the movie can be still ambitious and not have those 2 actors in it.

Official confirmation is different to other sources giving the information out. other sources often don't indicate the way Sony/Marvel perceive the roles or how they want to market it.

I am confident they are involved in some form or another.

Yeah, I mean it's a no brainer that Foxx and Molina are in the movie, since they are confirmed and even Zendaya talked about Alfred
Tobey and Andrew on the other hand, haven't been confirmed by no one outside from some leakers. Even FandomWire being the first that said about them, when someone asked them if it's true, they said "we have seen some things, it's 100% true". Well, ok. Why don't we see those things like being leaked online or something lol. And then everyone started with their one scoops, like Grace saying that Tobey will be announced in December and DanielRPK saying that Tobey is filming at first and then being in negotiations many months into the movie filming...

Oh absolutely, not denying that. I just feel when you add that quote with everything else that has come out about this movie it all adds up. Again there is so much evidence that supports them being in the movie. We’ll see though.

I was thinking that as well, though again ,it doesn't mean that the two aren't in the film either, and given Zendaya's statement that she can't confirm or deny that they're in the film , I tend to think Holland is lying .

Zendaya said she couldn't confirm or deny that Tobey and Andrew are in the film. Now , things of course could have changed in that they were in talks with those two but the talks fell through, which would explain the coyness by Holland and Zendaya months ago and now Holland's straight up denial.

Still though, I think Holland is lying.

If Tom Holland is lying, then he's become an expert at it given his previous spoiler slip-ups in the past, and with him giving a direct answer to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield not being in the movie when he previously kept it ambiguous makes me believe he's definitely telling the truth.

Couple that with his standalone comment, and I'd be hard-pressed to believe that any other live-action Spider-Man is in this movie. Choosing to still believe otherwise seems like going into conspiracy nut mode for me, almost in desperation.

Yeah, I was totally going insane back in November and wanted everyday to confirm their announcement. Didn't happened.

No need to focus on this topic anymore. If they are in the movie let it be a surprise.

I feel like sometimes we make too much of Tom Holland having these loose lips where he can't hide anything. When's the last time he actually spoiled anything? It's been years ago.

When he started he was a teenager lifelong Spider-Man fanboy geeking out over being cast as a superhero. He's 24 now and has quite a few CBMs under his belt. He's had plenty of time and experience to learn how to play the game.

I'm not saying he's lying, I'm just saying his past slip-ups don't really prove anything.

I don't know. Either way, I'm just remaining skeptical of everything in case the movie comes out in December (or at another date should it be delayed again) and it's nothing people expected as to not be phenomenally disappointed.

Still planning to see it, just not rushing towards it anymore.

I'm not going to guarantee they're in this, but Marvel actors straight up saying "No" on things turning out to be the opposite is common. Tom and his cast/crewmates are going to get bombarded with this question from now till it comes out.

There is a good amount of evidence suggesting Tobey & Andrew are in this. Having said that, I don't blame some of you guys for now keeping your expectations in check and maybe taking a break. I know it's getting to feel tiresome not getting any definitive info on this and I feel like it's going to be another while before they officially announce anything.

Stay patient and we'll all see in due time.

If it was up to Sony/Marvel we would probably wouldn't know any of them are in it. i gather they don't want any of it getting out. but keeping this stuff quiet isn't always easy.

Again, I'm talking about confirmation by the studio. Foxx posted something he wasn't permitted, Molina was first reported by a fansite basically, THR/Variety/Deadline are all owned by Penske now... You ask Holland these two and how his movies connect with previous versions and see what he says. But they didn't ask him.

Uh, I wasn't replying to you. Unless you have an alt account?

I see nothing wrong with keeping expectations in check and if anything its probably for the better especially with insanely hyped films like this, but that being said I'm still not suprised that Holland isn't giving up the goods yet and this isn't the first time actors have denied stuff in the MCU that has turned out to be true in most cases. I'm sure we will know for sure if Maguire and Garfield are involved once the marketing officially kicks off whenever that might be.

I have to remain skeptical about what Holland says and even a little sympathetic. We just saw recently with the Spanish actor who leaked a cameo on another mcu project that people do get punished for leaking things.
