On one hand, I'd be surprised if anybody still takes that guy seriously.

Second, Jon Watts not directing a Spider-Verse movie is honestly reassuring to me. I highly doubt Sony and Feige haven't discussed the idea even once, but SM3 clearly won't be it now it seems.

Thats just a weird post in itself. there has been alot of rumours going around about it being a spiderverse movie. not just from one person. let alone saying spiderverse is a boring idea and bringing up that person's personal life as a reason to debunk it.

Perhaps its real, but the guy he told it too apparently put the message out anyway so... yeah who the hell was he even talking too?

I was thinking the same, casting news this big wouldve been sniffed out by the big trades unless the studio is asking them to sit on it until theyre ready to announce.

Unlike the last 2 they seem to be even more quiet about whose in the film. And Jamie Foxx doesn't count as i ain't even sure it was meant to get out.

That alleged Watts post smells like bs to me. Feige has probably told Watts to say nothing about the next film at this point, so I doubt he'd be commenting on it online.

As for Maguire and Garfield, my guess is that the studio is either still working out the details on the deal or they're waiting for an official press release.

The fact that the trades haven't reported it yet ,doesn't mean it won't come to pass.

So, I don't see the lack of a HR or Deadline report as evidence of absence.

At this point , its a waiting game. We'll see what the first look of the film is in a couple months.

Will this multi-verse stuff "reset" the MCU? Not suggesting we see something like New 52 but maybe Mutants could be retconned into the MCU or elements from previous Spider-Man films could be brought over permanently for Tom Holland?

Yeah. They've been filming for 3 or so weeks already and Foxx is the only casting info we've had so far. Interesting.

Like I said before I dont know if this Tobey/Andrew Garfield stuff is true and I would caution everyone to temper their expectations on that—but there is definitely something BIG happening with this movie.

Totally agree on this. As much as I want to see Andrew again as Spidey, I'm not getting my hopes up for it. The rumors honestly sound too good to be true right now and I feel like something this big is going to be hard to hide, if it does happen. We'll know soon enough so let's just wait and see, have some patience.

Now if it doesn't happen, I feel like people are gonna judge the movie for something it isn't rather than what it is.

There is just alot of things that are suspicious. not just Jamie Foxx fan art. the biggest one being that Sony did not deny Andrew and Toby's involvement. they just said "not confirmed" which feels like a way to cheat around it so they ain't called out for lying later on.

Something is going on with this film. it will be interesting to find out what it is.

This is what makes me take pause at the idea of an eventual live-action Spider-Verse movie being dismissed so quickly. There have definitely been discussions about it, and while I now believe that SM3 won't be it, it might tease/pave the way for it, especially with Multiverse Of Madness following right after.

I could see it being the 3rd movie purely because they have an open door to make it work with Marvel doing their multiverse after Wandavision and before Dr Strange. but if you don't do it now, then they will have to come up with another way to do the multiverse thing happen.

That and Marvel have made the 3rd movie of at least 2 other trilogies into big events. Thor ragnarok was a pretty big movie and obviously Civil War being huge in terms of cast.

The thing is , none of us can say what SM3 will or won't be.

We can speculate and we can have feelings , we can determine the veracity of rumors, but we're not in the Marvel and Sony boardrooms, and just because we don't think Sony would or should do something in the 3rd film, doesn't mean they couldn't or wouldn't.

We're not part of the decision making process, or calling the shots, as much as fans tend to want to be with this films.

No one on these boards would have said Dr. Strange and/or Jaime Foxx would be in SM3 post SMFFH.

So even those castings should be an example that these guys may be coming up with a SM3 plot that fans aren't even thinking of.

So, SM3 may feature the multiverse, it may not feature the multiverse.

We don't know , and as fans, we're not even peaking through the keyhole. We can only speculate with the information we have now.
