Playstation Spider-Man (PS4) - Part 3

I did enjoy the change of pace MJ & Miles moments. They were nice little breaks from the gas pedal being on the floor. I will admit, some of those sneak missions may have been better with Peter. I like
when Peter was snooping around Martin Li's office, and you find out he's in the building. You talk to him, and the "I think you know that I know" moment was excellent. Would've been great to have more Spidey quick change moments. But I did like playing as MJ telling Spider-man when to swoop in for stealth takedowns.

How does it build the world or expand the cast? All they do is extend the game, and in a very boring fashion. Like the random puzzles.
Saints Row 4 uses puzzles of similar style to unlock and own shops, I like how these puzzles are used there.

That is exactly what they are. With BS forced stealth to go with it.
The parts I do not look forward to playing.

Is the gas pedal down the entire time with Peter? There is plenty to do with Peter that isn't that. The gameplay with MJ and Miles has nothing to it. Move between cover slowly. Set off a distraction. That's it.

My issue is more with how poor the puzzles are. They aren't difficult, so they just kind of bore me. They were clearly aiming for something that wouldn't be so difficult for general audiences, so it kind of killed that aspect for me.

Up to the heavy hitter mission with Scorpion & Rhino and cannot complete it for love nor money, just can't find the space and time to be getting my shots off / pressing triangle then in for the button combo then to do that 3-4 times on repeat for both, nope, it's not happening. :(

Plus am trying to complete one of the research missions where you have to de-contaminate the fish barrels by the yard and it tells you to press L1 & R1 to reach out for barrels except my controller (just for this little mission is having none of that), did anyone else experience the same problem, just basically won't respond, given it's the last thing for me to do to get 100% district completion it's bloody annoying.

Have you tried tricking Rhino into charging Scorpion? Rhino can deal some serious damage to Scorpion if you can get Scorpion between you and Rhino when he charges. Also if you get overwhelmed at all you can hop the wall of shipping containers to get some breathing room from Rhino.

I love it when enemies can hurt each other in a game, and I'm grateful this happens in this one.

I have tried all combination of ways but once you get Rhino charging and Scorps sending over his toxin and everyone is in close proximity of each other the game gets a bit confused and meshed, tried backing off too but then find myself too far away to enact on the triangle option. It's down to my skills I think, I am just not good enough, I knew this game would find me out eventually :funny:.

Oh cool, a homage to the fog in the game from 2000.

Yeah, it happened completely by accident for me and was how Scorpion finally got knocked out, didn't even know it could happen until I just saw Rhino crash into him full speed and then Scorpion just laying there, got a good laugh from me when I realized Scorpion was down for the count from it.

Best advice I can give is to just keep Scorpion stunned as much as possible, not necessarily to attack him, just to get him off your back, anything to help lighten the load you're dealing with in the fight until you can figure out a good pattern. I'm sure you'll best them sooner or later if you keep at it.

How about only focusing on Rhino, then just being more defensive with Scorpion (Spider-Sense alerts)? Lure Rhino into the L+R traps, then hit til you trigger finishing moves.

Just keep at it. The missions that had me grunting in frustration to myself were the most satisfying to finally beat.

Speaking of, I'm only 3 drone challenges away from completing Gold in all of Taskmasters challenges. I have to say, the easiest are the bomb & combat challenges, then a little trickier are stealth, then these drone challenges. Only 3 more and I can probably say I mastered everything.

Yes, with Peter your brain was still on GO from doing puzzles. Maybe not a full 10, granted, they weren't that difficult, just challenging enough to be fun. (Maybe on Spectacular, theyr'e more difficult?)

I like when a game does not have too long of cutscenes, just enough to tie up the story, and give a little breather, but it's a bonus when a game let's you play a would-be long cutscene.

With movies, music, storytelling, etc you just can't be on 10 all the time. You have to gradually build up to the next 10 moment.

Just some more screenshots from photo mode. I also realize I should probably use the other suits more often, but the Homecoming suit just looks so damn good in this game that it's kind of addicting.

The 'Avocados at Law' sign is there? :awesome:

Ok, maybe not the design of the sign, nor the words on it, at least their office exists.

Yep, would've been pretty disappointed if their office wasn't in the game, haven't been able to find a direct Luke Cage reference yet though.

Some may say the non-hero play moments drive things to a halt but that's precisely why I enjoyed those moments, they offered a breather from crazy action in the way a game could emulate a movie shifting to another character/ another pace, different perspective that adds to the fantasy of being Spider-Man: you feel all the more powerful as the superhero afterwards when you're in those tense moments with the non-powered characters. Plus for the most part if you don't feel like walking during those bits you can hold the sprint button, if that helps lol.

Exactly. Being able to play as a regular human in a Spider-man world was great, especially when
you see him take down hostiles in the background.
It reminded me of playing as Raiden in MGS2 fighting next to Solid Snake, or learning about the original Altair in the 2nd Assassin's Creed. They become legendary figures that make you want to go back & play them. You appreciate what makes them powerful & iconic even more.

I looked at most of Mile's parts almost like playable cutscenes.

They should have been cutscenes IMO. They add nothing except a huge sigh for me. Felt like a chore. All I wanted to do was be Spider-Man again.

They should add the option to skip those missions on NG+.

I wasn't a fan of what they did with MJ in this game. I get they didn't want her to be just a damsel in distress but did they really have to make her into Lois Lane Lite?

On another topic, what kind of gameplay adjustments/additions would you all like to see in the sequel?

Wall crawling: Aside from ironing out the bugs, a crawling jump would be nice. And a 'slide down' ability. As of now, you can't crawl through door frames, or transition between a lot of surfaces.

Swinging: The swinging actually exceeded my expectations. The only thing I would add is chain-swinging. Meaning you don't have to jump between individual swings, and you can hold two lines at once.

Combat: Insomniac really nailed the combat. The only thing I'd adjust is the throwing mechanics. Swinging objects around in a circle should be optional. If I'm close to an object, I'd like to simply hoist it above my head and throw it.

Stealth takedowns: You should be able to do a stealth takedown from walls and ceilings in addition to perch points.

Man I don't know what I'm doing wrong in these challenges. I only have one left, stealth version, and I've only received an ultimate rating twice.

And yes, **** those drone challenges. I can only get an amazing rating in those.

But I assume you need to get an ultimate rating for each one to unlock all suits since the last bunch need challenge tokens.

And I don't think I can do that, which means I can't get the Platinum trophy! Damn it!

If the drone challenges are giving you trouble, do something else and come back to them. I thought they were impossible at first, but I eventually got 3 stars for each. Trick is following the drone path, use webzips when ever possible and don't miss a single circle.
