As most of you know, the budget of Marc Webbs the Amazing Spiderman is rumored to be 80 million, and a lot of you are certain that 80 million is the true budget

BUT I have also heard recently that the real actual budget would be 150 million or something like that. And that would actually make more sense in a way, since it's Sony's "tentpole-movie series", the series sony seems to rely on

So, is the budget really as low as 80 million, or is higher like 150 million?

Well, the production budget might be 80 million. The budget for merchandise and marketing might be the rest. Although that seems a lot.

Well, it was reportedly 80 million, but i've heard that they took some of the budget out of GR: SPirit Of Veneance for The Amazing Spider-Man.

Even if it's 100 milliion, thats a ridiculous budget for a franchise as big as Spidey... especially when its common knowledge the amount of cgi and massive sets required is large.
Nowadays in Hollywood you won't even get your butt scratched for 80 million. That's just pR on an average summer blockbuster.

hi guys im new here at SHH , sucker punch has a budget of 80/85 millions and the effects look amazing and they also choose unknowns

they are entirely doing CGI... spiderman has to shot in actual locations... where they have to construct sets, reserve streets... blow **** up... costs more to do that then shoot inside a studio and then cgi the rest.

Zack snyder is one of those directors who can do amazing things with tiny budget (300 was only 60 million )

Marc webb is not.

Who gives a crap what the budget is? It's a spidey movie, sony's tent pole summer blockbuster movie. Anyone who thinks the film will suffer from a lack of funding is crazy.

^^ Yeah, but i'll be honest, we can't have cheap looking web-swinging and battles, etc. I just hope they can pull that off with this bugdet.

My point is, there isn't going to be anything remotely cheap-looking about this new film. If Sony had quoted the budget as $50million, we'd still be crazy to even expect a cheap looking film. Brains need to be put in gear and cognetive dexterity needs to be applied. In a season of comicbook movies galore, which will include TDKR and the fact that this movie has 3 spidey movies that came before it, will sony go out of their way to sabotage their sacred cow?? Of course not! People come on, you're better than this.

This.

Well I don't care what is the budget for that movie...as long as they can bring the amazing movie into summer 2012 with the toughest competitive movie out there.

That would make perfect sense, since Ghost Rider isn't nearly as good as Spiderman

Where's the poll option for "None of us have any way of knowing what the budget is, and certainly shouldn't be judging the film based on it at such an early stage, when we've seen so little of what will be the final product?"

forgot to add it dude. But maybe you can make your own poll with that option?

I think the budget for the first film was 150 million, the second was like 200 and I think the third was around 250...I think. So,after hearing all that it's now no mystery why they decided to reboot the series. It wasn't all about Sam Raimi and his script ideas,or failing to meet the expected release date. It was money.

I really don't care what the budget is, I just want the Spidey movie I've been waiting for to long. Budget does not equal quality (in some cases) :p

If it is $80m, there won't be much CGI in it. The main reason Raimi's flicks got so expensive was the extensive CGI fight and web-swinging sequences. If Webb is going down the Batman Begins route and trying to do as much as possible with a stuntman, good luck to him. But even Batman Begins cost $150m.

They tried to sabotage SM4 by wanting Vulturess because they thought Black Cat was too much like Catwoman who was rumored to be in Batman 3. Everyone thought Batman 3 would be released in 2011 along with SM4. They pushed for Venom in SM3 after the script was written to sell more toys.

Yes I think Sony is mucking with this movie. There is absolutely no way in hell that they gave Marc Webb full creative control to do whatever he wants. The amount of re-writes this script has gotten should be the first clue that things aren't perfect just like the amount of re-writes SM4 got before that film imploded. I don't think this film will necessarily look cheap but I don't expect it to have ground breaking special effects either.

I agree with the part that Webb doesn't have full creative control. I doubt he ever will either, Raimi was the one to turn to show that the superhero franchise can be the next big thing and they didn't give him full creative control after 3 huge successes.

I don't understand why people are pretending to have knowledge in areas that virtually none of us have any knowledge in. You're basing the budget according to other movies which does not make sense, it's all about how they distribute the budget. Plain and simple. A 50M budget movie vs. the same movie with a 100M budget could blow it out of the water. If the 50M uses its funds correctly and has small name actors it'll make a hell of a lot better movie than the 100M movie that brings in bigger names. It's all about how they prioritize the money, that's it. All these people fussing about 80M when they have no idea what they're talking about.

Agreed. There is not a doubt in my mind that Webb doesn't have complete creative control, if you ask me. We know how Sony works. DOes this mean ASM will suck? No, not at all, but still, it's something to be concerned about. I mean, Raimi made 3 INCREDIBLE films (IMO), and he didn't have 100% creative control.

No matter how much the director cherishes the comic book, Sony is always gonna have their say so as to what they want incorporated in the film and what they are shooting for.
