Comics Spider-Man solicits for August 2009

Man, I saw J.Scott Campbell selling a print of that ASM#601 cover in NY back in February...it still looks awesome!

This actually looks intriguing...if she's back in the books to stay, that is!:o

Oh, and notice that we're also getting a "Mary Jane and Friends" sketchbook in the same month? It's almost as though the "Braintrust/Webheads" are saying "Okay, we've brought Mary Jane back after a year and half where she's been written out of the books. Now, please, please, PLEASE COME BACK!"

So much for BND, huh? And MJ looks very... uh... Bouncy.

The Chameleon is poised to unleash unspeakable horror on New York City and Spider-Man is nowhere to be found, so the only person who can stop him is...Mary Jane Watson?!

Well... it wouldn't be the first time she stopped him. I remember her knocking him out with a broom once when he pretended to be Peter.

It does. I only wish Spidey's back wasn't to the viewer though. I'm no art expert or anything, but i know what i like to see.

I still dont know if they are that desperate yet. More likely they are testing the water to see how having MJ in the book effects sales.

Baseball bat. :cwink:

But yeah, MJ and Chameleon in the same story? My hand has been forced...to reach for my wallet.

I don't know why people are surprised or thinking that it's a sales gimmick (aren't all stories some type of sales gimmick?), but it's not like they said that Mary Jane was going to disappear from the books forever... she's been gone for longer periods before (a 5 year span from 1978 to 1983 comes to mind), so it was inevitable that she'd be back soonish... especially with all the Slott teases he puts into his stories...

:yay:

Chameleon can't catch a break! Didn't May recently take him out with a batch of cookies?

Aloha,
FanBoy DRAMA.She never died, contracted leprosy nor was it EVER stated that she would never return to the pages of Amazing.Never forget, many of these Spidey Experts did not read Amazing in the late 70's and early 80's.
Spidey rules with cast members who rarely die

What's even sadder was when the Chameleon revealed to Peter that he loved him and Peter almost died from laughter.

Of course. But certainly there were fans who were pretty alienated by what happened with One More Day and this is essentially tossing a bone. Not to mention they need something to maintain the momentum from likely sales bump issue #600 will give them, and having MJ come back is as good as anything. But yes, she was eventually going to be brought back sooner or later. And it appears, based on what the solicits, that she's going to act as a "spoiler" again for whomever Peter was going to hook up with, being that she's Peter's ex and probably wants to reconcile things. Notice also how the artwork in these covers closely associates her with Spider-Man, telling folks that despite everything that's happened, she's still "Spidey's girl." As though we had any doubts.
