Is anyone else excited for this story line?

and yes I'm well aware this has been talked about before but since it's an EXTREMELY big event I figured it deserve it's own thread:

Aloha,
I'm really looking forward to this mini series. Peter did meet with Miguel O'Hara of Spider-Man 2099 in a Wizard 1/2 issue many years ago but this is an official event.

Peter and Miguel "officially" met in 1995 in this One Shot...

I own it, and it is awesome.

I have fallen behind in USM, but I am totally buying this series. I wonder if Peter will find out that his Ultimate self is deceased. (Or MIA? Like I said I haven't read USM in a while) That would be an interesting conversation between Peter and Miles.

Looks like Mysterio is involved somehow.

It's been announced that Mysterio is involved... or is he?

:yay:

I could care less. I haven't touched Ultimate in years, and from what I hear I'm not missing much.

Aloha,
I could say the same thing. I used to collect Ultimate Spider-Man and sold the whole collection around #110. I recently got back into this new incarnation and I'm loving it.

Anyone know if this story is canon?

Presumably.
Unless Mysterio is pulling off a stunt bigger than he did in EOTE.

I stopped buying Ultimate when Bagley left, which is about when I finally got over my completionist attitude. But I never read the issues I did buy shortly after the Hollywood story.

it's not 616 Mysterio that caused this...

Aloha,
Put up a spoiler alert.
First issue I give a B+. Sets up the meeting between the two Spider-Men.
The picture of the co unmasking at the end is nice.

I really dug the first issue... first time in a long time that I see Bendis writing 616 Spidey as a mature wise-cracking super-hero... he'd probably be a decent writer with 616 Spider-Man... probably return Spidey to his street level heroism...

Nevertheless, good set-up... all of it dealing with 616 Spider-Man... next issue should be good...

I liked it way more than I thought I would... and this is coming from soneone who hates the Ultimate universe.

:yay:

I still have trouble swallowing the conceit that Peter would be okay teaming up with (and thus endangering AND relying on) someone who is 12 years old. What is this, DC?

It's a nitpick, but a fairly substantial one that pulls me out of it.

I think he is 13...but yeah, that is one of my biggest problems with the new Ultimate Spider-Man.

I liked the first issue though. I really REALLY wish Bendis would take over for Amazing, I agree with the above comment that he could bring it back to street level. I'm just not into all this end of the world crap.

I think he's 14... though I only read that in another thread...

Aloha,
For me, I feel like I'm reading a Spider-Man version of Fringe.I LOVE Fringe!
The idea of Myles being so young is being dealt with. Ultimate Cap is very against the idea of someone that young being a hero. We see where there is a strong likelihood that Myles will fight along side the Ultimate. Whether he becomes a member will remain to be seen. Ultimately, the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon is showing us how Myles is going to be trained by SHIELD if not the Ultimates.Between issue 4 of 5 and #13 and 14 of Ultimate Spidey, he'll get the web shooters.I think Marvel intends to keep Myles around for a long time. He will not age out anywhere as quickly as Peter did in Amazing.
