So its going to be revealed who these two mystery men or Women depending on who's theory it is

AMS 585 promises to reveal Menace
and
AMS 587/588(I can't tell which issue by the solicits) promises to reveal who the Spider-Tracer killer is.

My guess might be they are the same person, I'd rather have them be people who aren't in the regular cast. Not that I really like the cast, but I don't really think any of the new cast has been fleshed out at all I don't really know anything about them other than their occupations, Vin Pete's roommate hates Spidey and basically hates Peter, and the fact that both girls like Pete.
The two People I really hope are not revealed to be these characters are
Gabriel Osborn as Menace
Sin-Eater(Stanley Carter) as the Spider-Tracer Killer

what do you guys think?

Sin-Eater's dead. I know that doesn't mean much but I just don't see it being him.

In the first arc there was that guy who drove off with Spidey's web-shooter and ID so maybe him. However I remember the fiirst body had been dead a few weeks at that point.

Meance I think has at least something to do with Lilly, maybe she isn't Meance but she knows about it. In NWTD she kissed Peter to stop him pulling at a book in the book shelf, and we all know what they do.

Although I do kind of like the idea of her and Harry getting married and they become some sort of hideous Goblin couple that terrorise the city.

i only even brought sin-eater up cause I remember in an interview a while back someone in the braintrust said they might use him for a story. I can't remember who.

My prediction is that Menace will be revealed to be Carlie Cooper and that Vin Gonzales' partner, Al, is the Spider-Tracer Killer and that the two of them were in cahoots this whole time. I also believe that Dexter Bennet also knows, as essentially blackmailed Carlie into helping him make Crowne the mayor once he found out that she and Al were trying to frame Spider-Man. However, the thing is while they set about to influence the mayoral election and frame Spider-Man, Carlie Cooper decided to ensure via Menace that Bill Hollister would be elected mayor instead of Randall Crowne, which of course goes against the overall plan. Once Bennet finds this out Carlie is double-crossing him, he sends Al after her to kill her in order to prevent her from talking and fingering all of them.

Carlie Cooper is Menace.

Vin Gonzales (aka most useless antagonist since Paul Stacy) is the spider-tracer killer.

I like Carlie. Well, she's okay, but no great shakes. She's basically Deb Whitman 2.0.

Vin on the other hand is about as interesting as a proctology exam (and almost as cool).

Do we even need a Menace reveal?
Is the mystery really keeping people at the edge of their seat?
I think they should wait longer. I feel like he is a one note character, and I really don't care too much about him. I think he needs a thicker plot.
And why does he seem so forced?
I dunno... Maybe I have no problems with the character.
Maybe all this "BND" stuff is distracting me. The book feels different...

I would personally really like to know who he/she is! I've loved the build-up so far and haven't minded the wait, but if the writers think now is the time for the story to reach the point where we find out who he/she is, then I say go for it!

And something tells me that once we (along with Peter) find out who Menace is and WHY he/she is doing what he/she has been doing, that'll be exactly the thickening of his/her plot that you're asking for! :)

As for feeling forced on us? I really don't think so. I think it might feel that way to some simply because we're not used to new villains debuting and actually lasting more than a single 6-part story. I mean, really, when (until BND) was the last time Spidey's faced a new foe that lasted more than their debut story? Morlun lasted, what, 2 stories a few years ago? And before that??? For the longest time we've had 2 different types of villains to face Spidey: already-classic villains or 1-shot villains.

Wow...I never really actually even realized that until now. But seriously aside from Morlun (who appeared twice), what other new villains have had more than a single story about them since the Clone Saga ended?? Tarantula? I honestly can't think of anymore! Oh, there was that Other Girl-made-of-Spiders-Girl in Sensational.

Perhaps this is why suddenly having BND come along and introduce us to some new recurring villains feels pushed on us? Mr. Negative, Anti-Venom (though I hesitate to call him a villain), Freak, Overdrive, and Menace, have all had recurring appearances in the 1 year since BND started.

I for one am thankful! Makes the books seem much less villain-of-the-week-ish.

Carnage was the last permanent villain that was used by more than a few writers in more than a few stories. He appeared in 1991.

Fair enough. I see your point.
I actually really like mr. negative, and i even enjoyed freak, i think the spider-tracer killer could be a little more exciting... but Menace I still have a problem with.
I know we love our goblins... but why do we need so many of them?
5(?) green goblins, i dont even know how many hobgoblins, demogoblins, grey goblins... Yet, for the FF, and xmen, there is only one Magneto, one Dr. Doom... See where I am going here?

Well I definitely see your point, too.

I guess the reason I have no problem with these multiple goblins is because, so far, they've each had their own personality/story with them.

That, and I look at the Goblin name as a sort of "legacy" that Norman Osborn is VERY protective of. And when someone else comes by and tries to take the Goblin name (or in this case, just the look), it's always fun to watch not only Spidey's reaction to another frikken goblin, but to se NORMAN'S reaction to some wannabe running around in his pjs tainting his legacy.

Also, the writers seem to be very well aware that this is the millionth Goblin we've seen now, and are using that fact to enhance the story rather than just ignore it because they think that their Gobby is cooler. Having this be another goblin has led to Peter fearing that Harry is back in the tights again, and that wouldn't be something we'd see if it were some completely new costume. It's also allowed for some hints to who Menace really is, since we figure this person probably has to have some ties to the Osborns in one way or another. The writers are using the fact that this isn't the first Goblin in order to help tell their story, and I guess that's just another big reason I'm cool with Menace.

Yes. It is indeed a legacy.
Don't get me wrong, GG still holds a place in my heart as my fav villian. But it's mostly because of Norman (I've been enjoying Norman's story from Thunderbolts to current).

I donno. Menace is alright. I'm just not too interested in him.

Him, eh? I would totally read ASM # 585 right now! :wow:
