Ok with all these v/s threads i had to put one of my own out there. So i thought i would select 5 of the biggest trilogies at the Box Office and you can decide which one of these had the best trilogy starting film.
Even two will reach trilogy legal status in may but i already consider these two saga giants with really great 3rd acts to cap off great trilogies. So which one of these beinging saga films was the best in your opinion.
This will of course be a poll.

Lord Of The Rings The Fellowship Of The Ring.
Star Wars Episode 4 A New Hope.
Harry Potter and The Sorcerors Stone.
Pirates Of The Caribbean: Curse Of The Black Pearl.

Spider-Man is not really a trilogy, and neither is Harry Potter.

But anyway, The Fellowship and Star Wars are in a completely different class than the other movies. They are all time classics.

Spiderman isn't going to go down as a cult classic just yet... the greatest superhero movies probably but I don't it will be recognized as one of the greatest trilogies of all time by anyone other than us lame fan boys... we will only know in ten years... POTC will eventually go down as one of those trilogies but not any time soon... I'd have to say LOTR edges out star wars as a whole... but A New Hope was the greatest movie ever made last century

We're not discussing which films have a better message, we're discussing which is a better movie, in which ANH creams Spidey. I love SM1, but it's really little more than a typical comic book blockbluster. It may have more depth than a lot of other movies of today, but that's essentially what it is.
As I said, ANH is an incredibly impirtnant motion picture, and far superior to Spidey in most aspects.

I voted for Fellowship Of The Ring myself for in my opinion it was visually the most stunning of the rings movies. Who doesn't like Gandalf The Grey.? It was hard for i myself loved Pirates 1 and A New Hope but this has to be the best book adaptation to where i didn't feel cheated.

Fellowship is the most complete movie on that list ... without question.

The acting, story, pace, effects ... everything.

Star Wars is and always will be just about the biggest event in movie history but it is not a better movie.

FOTR is my least favorite of the LOTR flicks. Potter 1 is fun and a fantasy classic, but blah. SM1 is one of my all-time favs, and Pirates 1 is enjoyable.

But come on. It's gotta be A New Hope. All those other films owe everything they are to it, IMO.

I voted Pirates, something about Pirates, I love em, Star Wars, Harry Potter, LOTR, i've got love for em all, but if you can make Pirates kick ass like they did, it automatically wins
