I don't usually follow Marvel properties. But, I was curious. I know Fox and Marvel aren't on the best terms and neither would allow each other's properties in the others films. But, their does not seem to be that animosity between Sony and Marvel. So what are the chances they would allow references to each other in the films? Be it a mention of the Daily Bugle in the Avengers or mentioning the destruction of NYC in Spiderman. It shouldn't affect the movie...Actually, it would be a nice fan service. Maybe, they can even come to a bigger agreement to allow characters to interact in the films...Only would increase ticket sales.

Finally, Spiderman and Avengers worlds seem the most compatible to interchange. The mutant world of X-Men would be too different to what is being shown in either Spidey or Avengers.

I don't see it happening. There's not really an incentive to do the level of crossover required, not unless one party ( Sony ) basically sells out their involvement entirely. Otherwise, its basically handing the other guy a way to extort you at the last minute, for no real gain. No, using Spider-man in A2 isn't going to meaningfully effect the gross.

Well like I said it could be as simple as throwing out a name or reference to an event. Or as big as Spidey making an appearance in a Avengers(or some other) Marvel film. In return a Marvel character (ie-Captain America) could appear in a Spidey movie.

I would prefer they do something as simple as incorporating the Bugle or a landmark from the series. I really do not want them to inject Spider-Man into the film, as he would take over the film, and rob screen time from other character who need it.

Oh **** not this again.

Why do people want him in the MCU. how will it BENEFIT SPIDER-MAN?

All the talk is for the benefit of The Avengers but none of it is about whats best for his character.

Same with X-Men, people just want Wolverine so he can be an Avenger and don't give two ****s about The X-Men.

I hope they never join the MCU, not only because they are good where they are but imo the MCU movies are becoming too samey and comedic for my taste.

LOL ..... seriously I've checked in only 1 time all this past week or so and then I show up today to find this crap here again and over in the GOTG forum.

This topic is officially Jason Voorhees status.

That's because it's GENIUS, BY GOD :abom:

Don't be jealous of perfection. :word:

I want Spidey to exist in the MCU, but he doesn't HAVE to be in the Avengers, or rather, a full fledged member.

Treat it like the comics do it and have him be standalone, only joining the Avengers when the threat really calls for it or his participation in the story in necessary.

And as far as the likelihood of it, I'd say there are pretty good odds going for it right now.

Marvel and Sony are on VERY good terms with each other right now, and both sides have shown willingness to not only to tie the character to the MCU (Whedon and Co. wanting to use Oscorp and Oscorp tower, with Stark/Avengers tower likely appearing in ASM; Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach stating openly their willingness in such a venture), but do it in a way where Spidey can stand on his own, separate from the largely interweaving Avengers cast of characters.

Not any time soon. This thread isn't necessary, it exists indirectly all over the Marvel boards.

Aside from the Marvel fans, I feel like Spidey fallen from the spot as Marvel's #1 hero.

I know, the constant talk of it is tiresome. It's not going to happen for a long, long time. Harping on about it is an excersise in futility.

Might happen but this gets asked all the time.

I would love to see rdj and andrew garfield team up but it would never happen and if it did there would be so many egos and issues with distribution etc

I don't think Spider-Man has to appear in an Avengers film but I do think his existence within the MCU needs to be established. The MCU feels really empty to me without Spidey being there. It would be like having a DC universe without a Batman or a Superman.

Spidey being in the MCU doesn't have to mean he will join the Avengers. He can still operate solo in the universe with only small cameos and easter eggs there to establish they're in the same universe (i.e. a Daily Bugle article on the table in an Avengers film). Even if he does appear in an Avengers film, it doesn't even mean he has to join the team. He could still have his solo films over at Sony where he is focused on his side of the Marvel universe but still help out the Avengers once in a while. Both Sony and Marvel would make a bit of extra cash from that.

If he will ever appear in a Marvel Studios film, my gut feeling is telling me it will be in Avengers 3. The reason I say that is because that's when Thanos will most likely be done. It took the entire Marvel universe to beat Thanos in the Infinity Gauntlet storyline. Assuming that Thanos will have the Infinity Gauntlet in Avengers 3, I can't picture just a couple of Avengers being able to beat him. I think the team will need all the help they can get. That's why I think Avengers 3 will be more of a Marvel Superheroes film than an Avengers film, and Marvel will probably try to get as many characters that they can get their hands on to battle Thanos. Assuming that Sony and Marvel still have the same good relationship they have now, I think that is when Spider-Man has the most chances of appearing in any MCU film.

IF, it were to happen.

As long as there was no MCU characters interfering in Spider-Mans solo movies then i wouldn't mind.

It bugs me more that people say Spiderman, it's Spider-Man.
