Did you know... in an interview w/ Stan Lee, he said that him & Jack Kirby had fueded for years over the true creation of Spiderman... Stan said that his idea for Spidey came from an old (AND REALLY FREAKIN' SWEET) pulp character called The Spider...

similar to the Shadow, the Spider was Richard Wentworth, wealty young man about town, BUT W/ A DIFFERENCE THAT MADE HIM ALL HIS OWN...

That is extremely contradictory to every interview I've ever seen or read.

Aloha,
Maybe you should give us the source of that interview.

By 1962, with the success of the Fantastic Four and other characters, Marvel editor and head writer Stan Lee was casting about for a new superhero idea. He said that the idea for Spider-Man arose from a surge in teenage demand for comic books, and the desire to create a character with whom teens could identify.[3] In his autobiography, Lee cites the non-superhuman pulp magazine crime fighter The Spider as an influence,[4] and both there and in a multitude of print and video interviews said he was inspired by seeing a fly climb up a wall—adding in his autobiography that he has told that story so often he has become unsure of whether or not it is true.

An influence does not equal a direct, viable source as you seem to imply in your first post.

Also, wikipedia does not equal a direct viable source in any post whatsoever.

I seem to recall in his interview with Kevin Smith DVD, that Stan stated he simply liked the name, The Spider. And that was as far as it went with his being influenced in any way by The Spider in creating Spider-Man went.
