Spoilert Alert! The Greatest Death Scenes Thread.

The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
Wood Hite, played by Jeremy Renner confronts Dick Liddil played by Paul Schneider, the two get into a shoot out at close range in an upstairs bedroom and Robert Ford (Casey Affleck) shoots Renner's character in the head.

The actual assassination of Jesse James. One of the most tense moments of any film that I've personally ever watched. I also cried hardcore at the scene. Something about it just got to me. Rockwell, Affleck, and Pitt did a wonderful, brilliant job.

Rashomon
the three POVs

Thin Red Line
Jim Caviezal's last gaze at the sun

Last Temptation of Christ
It is accomplished...

As much as I thought the movie was 'ehh'...Death Proof's car crash was pretty sick...

Pyle murders Hartman, then commits suicide.

City of Life and Death

After everything Kadokawa has witnessed - mass murder of civilians, soldiers throwing children out of high story windows, endless rape of women and finally the last safe zone invaded and people bruned and slaughtered - he lets two prisoners run freeing a beatiful filed before shooting himself.

I loved how in
Live Free Or Die Hard McClane had to shoot himself to kill Olyphont. That was :awesome:

The Departed
I dunno about best, but DiCaprio's is certainly the most shocking. I liked the way Ray Winstone goes out too.

Yeah, there were some good death scenes in that movie. Scorcese is really good, among other things, at death scenes:woot:.

Saying those two in a row made me laugh.

Yeah
Cady going out and drowning was great. And his last look before he went under completely. That dead stare at the family with just his eyes. It leaves in impression for nightmares for them.

Also the murders in Zodiac. All very well done. The Lake murder was the most unsettling.

Game of Death

After an epic fight, Bruce Lee strangles Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to death

The Exorcist
I've always thought the death of Father Karras was pretty awesome. He sees that Father Merrin has died and just immediately starts beating the **** out of Regan, telling the demon to enter him. When the demon complies, he hops out the bedroom window and down that bigass stone staircase.

Saving Private Ryan

Watch the whole thing, or jump to 4:50.
