I think he was supposed to be inspired by the Spike from X-Factor ("Spyke" is from XM-Men Evolution)...Probably in the same way that Quill was inspired by Quills..

yes it was spike or spyke or w/e and i dono who the ash guy wit bad teeth who shot magma or w/e was. but there was a similar mutant in x-men legends wit similar powers i think
