Squadron Supreme roxxorz my boxorz and irons my soxorz, people.

I just finally got a hold of the mini max series. Wow. However, I still really enjoy the new, ''tamer'' series (though to be completely honest with you, I don't really think it's been tamed down as much as people have complained about...).

I really think this series is great. I'm waiting for the second new arc tpb to hit, along with nighthawk vs hyperion and ultimate supreme power. does anyone know when they are due out?

Any other big fans of the series? I love the way it's basically a darker, more mature and realistic take on the JLA, and how it basically has it's ''heroes'' with such dark sides to them (except maybe Kyle).

I'm hoping to see Hyperion vs Ultimate Hulk in the near future...

Are they part of the official Ultimate universe now?

No, but they are having a cross-over event with them.

So no other fans of SS here? :(

I think Hyperion is a fantastic character. It's essentially what Superman would be like if he was interesting. He has been used, abused and lied to, but deep down he is STILL a good man. Can anyone tell me what's been going on in the current series? I have the first on trade and am waiting for the second to be released...

I meant Stanley earlier, Kyle is just a *****e.

I didn't know that SS had come out in trade format yet. I'm going on the assumption that you know it started out as Supreme Power, there are three trades out for that though in case you somehow have lived under a rock. :p

I'm a big SS fan actually. The main book seems to be being released infrequently, and the Ultimate Universe/SS crossover hasn't be very good so far, but I'm still sticking with it.

The book opens slowly to be sure and I can see why some people wouldn't like it, but I think it pays off the more you read it, granted I'm a sucker for slow burn comics.

I think there a contingent of people on here who have fallen off the book since it when from Supreme Power to Squadron Supreme (From Max to non-Max, so no more full frontal nudity or obscene swearing) but I'm still loving it is it comes out.

Hyperion is an interesting character, and he's reacted to everything in such a realistic and human manner, I think that's what ultimately makes the book work in spite of being so purposefully diffused, the characters act rationally... well aside from the obvious ones who are purposefully nutjobs.

if i'm not mistaken, he's referring to the 80's era Gruenwald 12-issue series.

Supreme this, Supreme that...it's all the same :P But yes, Supreme Power is what I was mainly referring to, though I do like the old Gruenwald series as well. I was refering to the two main Supreme Power hardcovers, and the Squadron Supreme trade.

I gotta say it's kinda lame people dropped the book because you don't get as much boobies or swearing. I read the first Squadron arc before I got my hands on Supreme Power, and heard the whining and *****ing about how it's cut down...I was expecting there to be some huge, dramatic difference from the way people complained about it. But nope. Same characters, same edge, same themes, just with less boobies. I guess I shouldn't be suprised that people complained over nothing though.

People dropped the book because it wasn't going anywhere, not because it wasn't MAX anymore.

That's kinda BS, for a few reasons. One, I have personally read a lot of people say they dropped it because it wasn't max and was ''tamed down''.

Second, it is clearly going somewhere. I knew that and I only just read the trades. It's going down the road where Hyperion has to make the choice to rule or not, and there's the involvement of Power Princess and Dr Spectrum and how they play a role in it. There's a whole heap that can be done, and it seems to me that's where it's going.

Well, you're opinion is obviously your own. I work in a comic shop a few nights a week, and from what everyone who has dropped the book has said, is that it seemed to become aimless.

And it's true. I don't even read it anymore.

Yes but I'm not talking about the people in your store, I'm talking about the people here.

It's aimless even though it's clearly going somewhere, and it's pretty much posted it in big, flashing neon lights ? Ok....

What the hell does that even mean?

Like Wolverine, Daredevil, Amazing Spider-Man and Iron Fist? Yeah, I guess I better...

No, you know, those other ones you like...I can't even remember the names :(

Plus, thought you hated wolverine....the band wagon is already in motion, please try not to climb aboard.

I like Wolverine enough. I've never picked up his solo book on a regular basis until Jeph Loeb started. Am I not allowed to do that, or is that bandwagon jumping?

And why do you constantly take popularity as a sign of quality?

If something sounds good enough, I'll buy it. I assume it's the same with most comic readers. It's not like they are ten bucks a pop.

That's not what you've said before. You're stance is basically if it doesn't sell within the top 100, it's not worth your time. That translates, into: if other people don't like it, it's not worth my time. And THAT translates into: I buy what other people buy because I'm a sheep.

I garauntee that if DMZ or Scalped were among the top 20, you'd be all over it. They're not, so instead of trying something out (remember "it's not like they're 10 bucks a pop"), you say it's crap. You realize that makes you sound like an idiot, right?

I love ss.I think night hawk is my favorite character, his mini was awesome and proved hed take out batman just fine.I like the government aspect to the book and i cant wait to see how it all plays out.I think the character interaction and diversity trumps jlas and even the avengers at times.I always look forward to this book and im hoping that some of the other characters get minis, arcanna.

You basically say '' If it sells its because of the brainless sheep and the titles I like, which are clearly genius because I say so, don't because I'm one of the few individuals out there''. You think you are the be all and end all, when in reality, no one cares what you think either way.

I never said it wasn't worth my time if it doesn't sell, all I said was that you saying that the top selling titles are crappy and your little quirky comics rock doesn't make you cool or a rebel, it just made you sound like a know it all *****e bag.

I think alot of people dropped it because they thought it wouldent be as good as sp but its not that big of a change.it being aimless...it can seem like that but i tihnk the book needs time, they jumped reality and didnt stay thier long enough ot make it a huge deal in the book and you can tend to wonder if they dont really know whats coming next so they have included all these little side plots incase they need them.I dont think thats whats going on i just think they are trying to be more real life with it all in that you wont always have one problem to deal with and right now some major things are happening and all of them because the us makes stupid decisions. If you picked up every three books or so youd get a whole new story but the issues between do alright to great explaining why.I think the book will get its readers back.

Where are you getting this?

I NEVER said top selling books are crappy. I like a lot of them, as I've stated before. I'm saying your mindset that ONLY top selling books are worthwhile is ludicrous.

There's a TON of books being put out on a monthly basis, and for you to write them off just because they're not Marvel or DC is dumb. It's nothing more than being just plain dumb.

But I never said the reverse, either.

If you think I read just Marvel or DC or the top selling titles, you don't know me. I read IDW, Dark Horse, pretty much anything that catches my attention. I never said other wise. You said that the top telling titles were ****, and I enjoyed some of them, so I wanted to make a point, and that point was, maybe it's not the people buying hte popular titles who are wrong....you came off like your taste is right and everyone else is wrong and I took issue with that.
