If it is selling better it's because it's not just for adults anymore. So more people can buy it. Maybe they like it. I don't know. In my opinion though, it's not as good as it was when it was a Max book. Kinda like How Alias was way better than Pulse. It lost it's edge.

I really don't much bout SS till I started collecting this series, so you're saying that these guys were more violent than they are now?

I wouldn't say more violent. There was a lot more nudity and F-Bombs though.

Its not selling more or less than when it was Supreme Power MAX menaing its move to MK was a failure and unnecessary. I dont see it getting cancelled though.

When is the Ultimate Power crossover gonna happen, between the Ultimate Universe and the Supreme Universe?

I enjoy the series, I foudn the MAX series good - but some scenes were just so pointless. The nudity and swearing, even some of the violence didn't seem to flow normally but kind of felt like it was placed there because they could and it ended up being worse for it.

But so far I'm loving this series, it's as good as the MAX series and isn't trying so hard to be cool.

these books were about squadron supreme right? (just confirming)
So were they set in 616 universe or back in their original one?
I didnt read it but im glad people finally did something cool with them. they were all total ********s whenever i read an appearance in Avengers

I got a chance to finally sit down and read the original Squadron Supreme by Mark Gruenwald from 1985. Man, that was quite an amazing read. I like JMS' revisioning of the Squadron Supreme characters, but he isn't anywhere close to making it as awesome as this story was, and it's 21 years old.

If no one has read this I suggest getting up and getting it at your local comic shop or bookstore because it's well worth the price.

I hope not. I'm loving JMS writing on this book. I can't wait to see how he makes Nighthawk take down Hyperion, like the dumb competitors did with their counterparts.

No doubt. People seem to forget about its greatness when a came out a whole year before Watchmen.:wow: :wow: :wow: :wow: :wow:

i think Gruenwald's sucked and i hated the costume designs.

I like both the MAX and MK books. I love that the characters are contained in their own universe with its own rules. Simplicity is good in comics. Unfortunately this Ultimate cross-over is going to happen which I think is an unnecessary mistake, not to mention a thinly veiled way to take advantage of completist collectors.

Ah well, maybe I'll drop it after the cross over.

My sentiments exactly, Supreme Power always felt like an Ultimate title to me, I have much love for the original maxi and I really miss Gru's work :(

The Max book is better. I couldn't stop reading it. The new book I could and did.

The Max series was Ok. This new one sucks. Its not the Squadron Supreme God damnit!

Well, it WAS from the 80's, heh. :oldrazz:

What I found odd about Squadron Supreme was the whole mindwiping part of the story. There were a lot of elements from the original maxi-series that I see being implemented into regular DC Universe canon. Like the "mindwiping" stuff with Dr. Light in Identity Crisis. I was like, "Hmm, wonder where they got THAT idea". :cwink:

based on the comics it's a ****e sight worse

I dropped it a while ago. As far as I know it's still coming out.

Not only was it getting less fun to read, now it's super-late. I'm quite close to dropping myself.
