Stadiums & Arenas

It was nice to see that Soldier Field defended it's title as the stadium with the worst playing surface last week. It was in ok shape last night, but last week the Bears canceled a family night because they wouldn't practice on the horrible field. It really is embarrassing. Time for an artificial surface again.

Just did some figuring...Only 1 NHL facility is without a corporate name. 8 baseball stadiums do not have a corporate name. Six NFL stadiums are without one.

White Sox play at Guaranteed Rate Field

Phoenix Suns call the Talking Stick Resort Arena home

Smoothie King Center in New Orleans

Hard Rock stadium is in Miami.

the Red Wings abanoned Joe Louis for Little Caesars Arena

Who are the 8 baseball stadiums?

I can only come up with Yankee Stadium, Dodger Stadium, Angel Stadium, Camden Yards, Kauffman Stadium, Nationals Park, and Fenway Park?

National Stadium in Singapore is the most remarkable stadium that I have ever seen.

Great thread idea!

I have a few stadiums I've been to.

Metrodome:
Been to this place a good number of times for various events. It was not a great stadium even in the early 90s. By the end it was really a dump though.
Still miss it strangely.

TCF Bank:
Pretty okay place. Attended that Vikings playoff game in the freezing cold. (With a former member of this site who was rooting for the Seahawks sadly.:cmad::cwink:) Great memories there.

Lucas Oil stadium:
This place is pretty nice. Really open feel to it, was able to walk around after the game, and it really seemed like there wasn't a bad seat in the house.
It’s unfortunately in a really crowded area and there isn’t a lot of room for tailgating or fun stuff around the stadium.

US Bank:
This is an amazing stadium. I’m not just saying that as a homer either. It’s quite a venue. They put so much thought into putting Minnesota flair into the stadium. I wish it wasn't so expensive to go to but that's just kinda how it goes. The only knock against it is the same knock I have on Lucas Oil. They built it in the middle of the city, space is a premium so there isn't a lot of room around the stadium for tailgating or anything, though I will say USB has more official team run things going on around the stadium.

Arrowhead Stadium:
Fun stadium. It’s pretty old but well designed. Had a great time here.
Fans were super great here too.
Great food at the stadium too.

Raymond James Stadium:
Gotta love the pirate ship and other pirate themed stuff around the stadium. Nice place.

i didn't realize this thread is like 7 years old lol

I have since my last post been to the Ravens stadium, and this August i'll get to add Fedex Field as me and some friends are going to the Redskins/Broncos preseason game

San Diego Jack Murphy/Qualcomm/SDCCU Stadium! I saw many Padres/Sockers/Chargers games there.

Watch Tony Gwynn so many times!

PetCo Park: SUCH a beautiful stadium. One hopefully soon the Padres will be as great as their field is.

RFK stadium has a special place in my heart. I've seen so many concerts and games there. It's a rough one to get around, but I adore it.

DC United is building a soccer specific stadium to open in July, exciting for sure. I'm looking forward to seeing Washington Spirit play a few games there.

I finally went to the Braves new house yesterday, it’s a nice place

Philips Arena in Atlanta to be renamed State Farm Arena

IMG_2357.jpeg

I always liked that the place had a non-tacky sounding corporate name. It has held the name since it opened in 99, but evidently Philips' name rights are expiring this year.

I've got a bit of a stadium fetish. Like visiting all the best ones I can.

Same here Ice, i love a good stadium!

Have any of you US guys been to the Mercedes Benz stadium in Atlanta?

i have been able to now cross off three stadiums off the list:

Harbor Park (Triple AAA for Orioles)
Ravens Stadium (PNC Park? i forget what it's called)
Fed Ex Field (2 weekends ago)

and I might be going to the Panthers/Ravens game in Charlotte next month!

Old Trafford in England, it's a legendary battlefield which hosts home matches, different shows and musical events. In my last trip to UK I found old trafford address, booked a stadium tour and visited Manchester United Museum. We got to the heights of Sir Alex Fergusson stand, visited players’ dressing rooms and the pitch itself. That was really cool, the stadium has amazing atmosphere. Want to come back again there in my next trip to England.

While watching the Sharks get pounded yesterday, it struck me that it’s probably about time for someone to start hollering for a new arena in San Jose. The shark tank is now 25 years old, and that seems to be the new life limit for places these days.

Went and seen the Mets plays the Reds at Citi Field while I was visiting New York.

i will be working 20-30 minutes from boston in july and the red sox are playing the yankees that week. i'd really like to see a monumental sports rivalry in one of the most famed sports arenas but i know it won't be cheap, and i'm not sure it'll be doable because 4 people will be sharing 2 rental cars.

at the very least, i've heard rumors you can tour fenway and such, so i'm wondering if anyone has info on that. perhaps i could do that on a day off, if we get one of course.

You might have trouble with that, seeing as it got trashed in Godzilla :D:D:D

Fingers crossed I’ll be checking out Fenway by Sunday! Wouldn’t mind seeing where the Celtics and patriots play too. Will look into that.

Don’t think any of my coworkers are interested in getting tickets to a game but I really want to at least take the tour and go on the field etc
