Okay, thanks.

Honestly, it looks the same. Everyone was saying it looked different, like Abrams meets Ent-D or something.

It is different.

Have a look at it again. Check out the position of the neck and look at the nacelle pylons.

so I guess i'm the only one who thought the cgi in this was a downgrade from the last movies?

Saw this today. I really enjoyed it. might even be my favorite of the new Trek films. Great interplay between the characters and it was just a fun smooth ride.

My only negative would be that the hand to hand combat scenes were a bit shaky and hard to follow.

8.5/10

Easily the best of the reboot films for me. Yes, perhaps not as well directed and slick as Abrams' entries, but much more faithful to the spirit of Star Trek and way better written than those Orci and Kurtzman messes. I hope Pegg is involved in the writing of the next one. I'd love to see what he could do with a full pre-production period than a last minute rescue to salvage a scriptless movie.

Writers Simon Pegg and Doug Jung were passed over for Star Trek 4.

Word of advice: Don't quote posts with bootleg material in them. It's a sure fire way to get an infraction.

As for the Ent-A, the only difference I can notice is the saucer's sides are no longer vertical like a pancake's but instead are angled. Gives it a sharper look.

Also, the nacelles are spaced further apart and the design seems to be better balanced.

This is one of the few action flicks I've seen where there are like barely any lulls. Even the dialogue scenes felt fast.

I'm really excited to see Spock and Bones on their side quest.

This movie also proves that:

A villain with a revenge plot/motivations

CAN work if you put an interesting-enough spin on it.

Not to add another rant about Into Darkness but I think I found my biggest problem with it....

They actually had a great idea for a star trek story but threw it away. The whole prologue with them risking the prime directive and their lives to save am alien race could have made for a great movie on its own.

A volcano wouldnt have made a very good film villain for a star trek film. It would have been fine for a 40 minute episode, but a two hour star trek film...

The Ent-A also has red lines along its side similar to the original.

I loved BEYOND! It was like an extended version of a TOS episode in the best possible way. Pegg and Jung did an excellent job with the script—I hope they're involved in the writing process for ST4.

A whole month until we have it in our cinemas. :/

I liked Krall as a villain. He's definitely one of the better movie ST villains imo. He does suffer somewhat from "we only have a certain amount of time to tell this story in a film" syndrome. If he was the villain for say, an entire season of a TV show, or a recurring one ala Dukat, then he'd have been brilliant imo.

But for what they had to work with, I found him to be pretty compelling/interesting.

I enjoyed this film a lot it felt very reminiscent to the classic original tv series. It was much more character driven in tone and the story was mysterious with a bit of suspense. Ultimately it delivered and very well action packed. I love the tribute to Nimoy's Spock. The Cast once again delivered a solid performance, Oscar-winning composer Michael Giacchino score is breathtakingly rich and very opera, the theme he established in 2009 "Enterprising Men" is powerful and when used in a more somber tone throughout the film till the climax when it has earned the build up of resurrection it's welcomed. The new characters worked well particular actress Sofia Boutella as Jaylah (She was basically The Rey of this piece) Krall, portrayed by Idris Elba kicked ass as a villain who was new and mysterious, yet very engaging.

I can't wait for the next film in the series so far the reboot series is 3 for 3 as top Star Trek films.

What do you guys want to see in the film series?

For me, I would like to show something unexpectedly different, and have Kirk and co. fight the Borg.

But more importantly: I really want a full scale Federation/Klingon war.
