Star Trek

:mrk:

The world needs Star Trek in the worst way possible right now.

First Twin Peaks, then The X-Files, and now this. Oh giddy Lord, I'm in Heaven!!!

Star Trek belongs on television. I'm super happy to hear about this and I hope it's true (and also that it's good).

Looks like they might be going with Bryan Singer and his Federation concept which sounded like a hybrid of Deep Space Nine and Voyager.

I'll believe it when LR's numerous "scoops" are accurate.

where's Star Trek when we need it now more than ever?!?...

A few years back there were rumors of several different ideas for a new Star Trek series and the one I liked the best was Singers "Federation" idea. Hopefully he will get a chance to make the series and will manage to make it good :)

Personally I hope that whatever they do embraces the original idea of a Utopian and uncorrupted Starfleet exploring the universe.

Big question for me though is, if it's set further in the future which timeline do they follow?

I'm guessing they will take a cue from Marvel Agents of SHIELD and do something in the same timeline of the current film universe, but a different ship (assuming it is set on a ship) than the Enterprise with new characters, but referencing things that happened in the movies.

Any more reliable source yet?

For something this big, I have seen nothing of it since that claim a few weeks back.

Personally I hope they have an episode where they act like they do in this song.

Jesus Christ. Enough with the Original Series circle jerk.

I doubt there will be a new television series for a while. There is a problem with the rights for the television being owned by CBS and the rights to the movies being owned by Paramount. CBS has no interest in another Star Trek series right now according to the story I read a few weeks ago on why there is not one running.

I don't know if they still are. Even if they were though it still would not matter as they treat each other as seperate entities.

New #StarTrek TV Series in the Works http://bit.ly/1NlpfXx

Just in time for its 50th anniversary, Star Trek may be returning to the small screen.
Prolific producers Alex Kurtzman is developing a new take on the beloved sci-fi classic for TV, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. A formal announcement with additional details is expected to come later this morning.

The drama is set up at CBS Television Studios, where Kurtzman and Orci's K/O Paper Products banner is under an overall deal. A search is under way for a writer to take on the cult hit. A network is not yet attached but the goal is for the potential series to be on the air late next fall on either cable or a streaming service, sources say. Should a new Star Trek series come together for next fall, it would air as the franchise is poised to celebrate its 50th anniversary as the original series debuted Sept. 8, 1966.

at least Kurtzman isn't writing.

Since it will be in rebooted timeline it will be Intresting to see what show will be about.

I wonder if it will be in the rebooted timeline or the prime one

The new program will be the first original series developed specifically for U.S. audiences for CBS All Access, a cross-platform streaming service that brings viewers thousands of episodes from CBS’s current and past seasons on demand, plus the ability to stream their local CBS Television station live for $5.99 per month. CBS All Access already offers every episode of all previous Star Trek television series.

The brand-new Star Trek will introduce new characters seeking imaginative new worlds and new civilizations, while exploring the dramatic contemporary themes that have been a signature of the franchise since its inception in 1966.
