I find the more I learn to become a director the more sympathy I have for Lucas and Bay.

I know many are going to rake me over the coals for saying this but......getting Star Wars away from Lucas may not be a bad thing. Not sure I would trust Fox with it........but someone else perhaps.

Totally agree man. Look at the Startrek movies, the first one was mostly in the hands of Gene Roddenberry, he wanted it to be very intellectual. It ended up being boring and souless. Then (although he helped with the others) he didn't actually have the direct control he did with the first movie. We ended up with "The Wrath Of Khan" and the rather goofy "Voyage Home" as well as a bunch of other great, more fun movies.

I thinik the best example though is Deep Space 9. Apparently he was against the idea as were alot of fans as it was very diffrent. Alot of people would argue ( myself included) it was the best star-trek by a mile.

He'll give the rights to Micheal Bay just to screw with the fans.

I would assume his children would inherit the rights. That's the norm, isn't it?

Gene Roddenberry never owned the rights to Star Trek. From what I understand he never had a very good relationship with the company who owned the rights.

Still, Lucas' estate could let other people make Star Wars movies, cartoons, etc., as long as they get royalties.

Glad im not the only one who feels that way.

I never argued that.
To repeat, Gene Roddenberry had almost full creative control of the first movie. Not the others. (WOK) the second movie, had a tiny budget compared to the first movie and took in far more money. To this day it's still widely considered the best.

A part of me wants it to go to Fox just because I think we might get the unaltered versions of the OT in proper fashion. I don't trust his kids with them at all.

I wonder how many marriage proposal's Bim has gotten since she posted her lightsaber collection. :D

There's some pretty disheartening news about the OT Blu Ray's on this page. :(

I have the force FX lightsabers...Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker

i wont believe it about the Blurays til i get them in my hands

I assume his children would inherit the rights but neither of them it would seem have any experience in filmmaking that they would proabably let the current producer of the prequel trilogy have a handle on them.

I suspect this will happen.

You know what the sad thing is? When Lucas actually passes away, all the haters who call him a crazy **** will praise him and call him a genius and he'll be more loved and understand him more. Like Michael Jackson or Stanley Kubrick.

This is true and they'll even talk about his other films like American Graffiti and THX 1138.

I wont. I'll never.

I'm excited when he loses the control. The possiblities are endless. :D

They'll probably reboot the saga

I have symphaty for Lucas early filmmaking, when he worked very hard in star wars, but in the prequels he simply sits on his chair.
I respect michael bay for his hard work, he actually work hard making his movies but he just uses all his energy working in the special effects instead of the story.

Something tells me he'll still be toying with the idea of adding more unnecessary special effects for future releases.

Rebooting Star Wars would be like messing with the Wizard of Oz, Godfather, Citizen Kane, Casablanca. It just shouldn't be done. Ever.

They wont reboot...especially if the family is in charge

The Wizard of Oz has been messed with a lot of times

Yeah, but the Original has never been remade.

Sure there are stuff like Return to Oz, and the Tin Man. But not a remake or a reboot.

It would go to his children and then their children and so forth.
