Disney bought Pixar for 7Bil.

I hope he isnt on his way out

Hell disney bought marvel pre-MCU for the same price as all of lucasfilms and that's a company that nearly went broke in the 90's.

Lucas could have gotten more for sure but i don't think he cares about money at this point he is already beyond wealthy.

It's probably he's older and doesn't want to get involved in the nitty gritty anymore.

This has to be one of the biggest Hollywood news stories in years.

And I'm stoked, giddy like a mother****er! I grew up with the prequel trilogy but also paralleled with the original due to my uncle.

This has so much potential to make up for all the BS that occurred from 1999 to 2005, and I think Revenge of the Sith is a good movie.

HERE'S TO THE NEW TRILOGY! CHEERS *****ES!

I think Lucas is thinking about the best custodians for his legacy and don't forget the stock shares will be worth a huge chunk more as time goes on.

I was just about to say I had hopes for Timothy Zahn's novels to be adapted to the big screen. He's the only author I consider to capture the essence of the original trilogy.

I love Zahn's trilogy too, but Leia was pregnant in those stories and unless they recast Princess Leia, I don't think Carrie Fisher can play a pregnant woman convincingly, given her age.

I think this is the answer

Good to see you back man. I love this panel!

These are two incredible pieces of art.
You, Erzengel, & Fives along with everyone else who kept posting all those EU art bent the force into bringing us this great day. ;)

More EU art and we'll keep getting more Star Wars goodies. :hehe:

Fake News:

JJ Abrams quits the Star Trek franchise in hopes of getting the job for the new Star Wars trilogy. "There's no point turning Star Trek into Star Wars when I can do the next movies."

Exactly. He's had a relationship with Disney for decades now, the company knows what a valuable property it is, and to be able to now make it part of their multiple platforms is a perfect place for it.

It's brilliant for the parks. Having the Marvel characters mostly stuck at Universal's parks has kept them from making them a real presence at their parks in Florida. Now they have something they can expand on there - and if anyone's been to Disney Hollywood Studios lately, they know it needs the update.

If Ep. 7 will indeed be released in 2015, they better start pre-production because it's not a small movie we're talking about here, but Star Wars! And I also wonder how it will fit with both Avengers 2 and Justice League already announced for that summer. No matter what, 2015 is gonna be one amazing year for movies.

Well I figure it will be Winter 2015 most likely December. they will have a good 3 years behind it.

Man I have a feeling SDCC will be big next year if they do something for that. Walls will fall down people will go insane.

You know one thing im really excited about is that these films probably wont be all cgi green screen locations. I would love to get someone like Ridley Scott who builds large sets. Not that i want Scott. He needs to work on Paradise.

I doubt we'll see a Justice League movie in 2015.

Fox will do it, they are struggling as it is. lol.

I'm shocked by the news.

Me too. It's so surreal. But welcome it big time. I thought Star Wars movies were done and dusted, and it was going to be animation and video games from here on out. Just wow news. Imagine if they got Hamill back...

:funny: It's so odd as I was just thinking about a new trilogy the other day after I posted the Doctor Demagol pic and thought the idea of a Mando doctor experimenting on Jedi was a pretty cool concept for a new film, and then whoosh, here we are. :D

Yep, look at how well they have maintained their own legacy and he must be impressed with what they have done with Marvel cinematically, both creatively and as a well structured business model, there really is no better hands he could put his creation in.

I would also prefer they use some on-location stuff like they did in the OT. The Prequels just felt too sterile and nothing felt tangible.

He easily could have sold it for more but I'm in agreement that he'd rather it be in good hands than just settle for one final big payday.

Ya I'm sure they will go back to heavy practical, have CGI enhance the film, not be the entire thing.

In Greek the word 'apocalypse' means discovery. By 21st December we will probably have a cast and director! The Mayans where right all along!

Fake News:

Episode 7 will just be a re release of Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl but with the backgrounds changed to a more Star Wars appropriate background. Swords change to lightsabers.

Exactly, when you have as much money as he has and we are still talking about billions he is getting in this deal, the priority shifts to what is best for the franchise over money.

Yeah I think he wanted to retire but didnt want Star Wars to retire
