Rebels Star Wars Rebels Season 4: An Open Discussion

I don't think a new series would need the original trilogy characters to be good. But I want to see a post-Empire Star Wars Universe and what it would be like. Like do the Crime Syndicates try to fill the Empire's void at all and become a major threat? Or as Roose mentioned, do the Chiss Ascendancy reveal themselves as a major player and reveal themselves to the rest of the galaxy.

I think the majority of SW fans want a post ROTJ animated series with Luke Skywalker/Han Solo/Leia.

I would love to see Thrawn in live action.

I'm up for anything really.

But would love to see a series that deals with that era and lets those huge characters get a showing at some point.

And Thrawn is sooo good. :hmr:

I think the OT characters would be interesting supporting characters (Luke especially as a periodically appearing wandering Jedi Knight Errant) and background movers and shakers; like I wouldn't mind having some new characters work as part of Han's shipping business, since I presume he's probably just mixed smuggler skills with legal work in a free but still very dangerous Galaxy, and Leia could easily be the Senate leader of the intelligence community that oversees other heroes.

And we've got numerous little hints at fun possible adversaries: at least some Imperial remnants are still active after Jakku, like Moff Rand, the Galaxy has two successor states to the CIS, whole sections of the Galaxy seem to not be part of the New Republic, and there's a pirate nation state with a Super Star Destroyer. It's not just the GFFA without the Empire, it's the Wild Wild West in Space.

By the by, I've had some pseudo head-canon going on for what an post-OT series would be: a team of peacekeepers approved by all the new nation states to track down ex-Imperials, notable criminals, and charged to secure the space lanes. It's a chaotic mess with cycles of different types of big bad guys: the Pirates of the Latitudes need to be either contained or crippled, Imperial diehards try to hold onto a few obscure military bases (and the few that escape are hinted to joint the FO), new antagonists play a more subtle game (imagine Warlord Zsinj from Legends reimagined for the new canon), and just a general rogues gallery of threats threatens the peace of the Galaxy.

Oh, and since I'm a Rey Skywalker supporter, the main star would be ex-Imperial Agent Mara Jade, as she struggle so it has emitting her past allegiance was horrible and considers taking that Skywlaker fellow up on his force training proposal...

I feel like this series would need to be like The Clone Wars, which works because we are with the important characters. This is a time period when the big 3 would be doing big things. Why would you side step that?

It'll probably be a case where the Big 3 are in play, and they'll have newer characters working with them. I can't imagine we won't see one of Luke's early students as main character for instance.

1. I don't think genetics allow Aphra to give Rey her very British white skin.

2. Also, Aphra doesn't seem to swing that way...

Hypothetically, I like this idea. Have them appear as sort of background characters who are big movers or shakers or Leia as someone who is maybe giving people missions like with Poe Dameron at the beginning of Force Awakens.

Those all sound interesting. Plus the crime syndicates.

I agree. A post-Empire galaxy would likely be pretty chaotic with all sorts of trouble makers trying to assert control. So a new show could be a team of people activated by the New Republic to restore order to the Galaxy.

Even if this doesn't come to fruition, I still like the idea and how you thought this up :D

It will be really good if we can get a CW type series with the big 3 either as main or regular recurring characters.

1. That is what Luke is for. It is why she looks just like grandma Skywalker. :woot:

2. Someone didn't read the Screaming Citadel. No reason she isn't bisexual. :cwink:

My totally wrong pet theory is they are setting her and Luke up. But after the Screaming Citadel, yeah I actually give it a small chance. Not a great one, but I'd be shock now if Aphra/Luke isn't ever a thing. Luke, Aphra and 000 almost lay it on a bit too thick. :funny:

Comic character? Is there a list of all the SW comics out now? I'm going to start catching up on them all.

To my knowledge there's four ongoing comic series right now; Star Wars, Dr Aphra, Poe Dameron and Darth Vader.

And there are two different Vader series. One ended not too long ago. You should check that one out too.

Thanks. Are there any others that I should read that are finished?

Yes. And a lot like Thrawn, one of the great additions to the lore imo.

I looked for a list, could not find a good one. So I did my best:

Ongoing Series
Star Wars: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_(Marvel_2015)
Darth Vader (Finished): http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Darth_Vader_(Marvel)
Kanan (Finished): http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Kanan
Poe Dameron: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Poe_Dameron
Doctor Aphra: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Doctor_Aphra
Darth Vader (Different Series from above): http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Darth_Vader:_Dark_Lord_of_the_Sith

Mini-Series (All complete outside of Windu and Phasma)
Princess Leia: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Princess_Leia
Lando: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Lando
Shattered Empire: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Shattered_Empire
Chewbacca: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Chewbacca_(Marvel)
Obi-Wan & Anakin: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Obi-Wan_&_Anakin

Captain Phasma: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Captain_Phasma

One-Shots
C-3PO 1 - The Phantom Limb: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Special:_C-3PO_1:_The_Phantom_Limb
Rogue One—Cassian & K-2SO Special: http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Rogue_One—Cassian_&_K-2SO_Special

Upcoming:
Thrawn (mini adaptation of the new book): http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_Thrawn
The Last Jedi: Storms of Crait: (One Shot):http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars:_The_Last_Jedi:_Storms_of_Crait

There has been two crossovers. Both with the main Star Wars book, both starting with a one shot. The first, Vader Down was a crossover of Star Wars and Darth Vader. The Screaming Citadel was a crossover between Star Wars and Doctor Aphra.

Thanks. Are there any others that I should read that are finished?
I'd suggest the first Vader, Aphra, and the majority of Star Wars (1-20, 31-present) when it comes to the main series. I read them all, but those the best imo. The writer of Aphra and the original Vader series is taking over the main Star Wars book with issue 38. I am very excited.

All the minis are worth your time imo. But the best are definitely Lando and Han Solo imo. I also liked Leia and Maul is very popular as you would imagine.

Amazing, thanks for this!

Saved this on my reading list spreadsheet, will read them all ;)

I'm about to start that Darth Maul one that was mentioned as being the only old non film/TV show that was in continuity. I'll be reading the lot eventually.

And Son of Dathomir. Very TCW, as it is an unused script. As you seem to really like it, I am sure you will enjoy it. :woot:

Yes that's the one I meant! Will be starting on it soon. I got it after people told me about it being the one comic that came out before the given date that was in continuity. Seems like a good place to start.

There's some very interesting stuff regarding Mother Talzin in that comic, stuff that they only alluded to in the animated material.

Cool. I loved the episodes with Asaaj Ventress' background, the Night Sisters and the Savage Oppress trials.

I don't know if you've read the books or not, but the Dark Disciple novel deals a lot with Ventress. It was based on unused Clone Wars scripts as well, so it might be worth your time.

No I've never read a Star Wars book and didn't know much about them till recently. Thanks for that mention, will add it. Seems a shame that there are any CW scripts that weren't used for the show.

I think there was almost two seasons worth of material that had been in various stages of development when the show got the axe. They repurposed a lot of it, but it's definitely a shame that it never got to really see the light of day as was intended. You can tell in his various interviews and the like that Dave Filoni was fairly disappointed by it.
