I'm sure my friend's Inquisitor gives it away for free. It's probably the only way to keep Khem in line.

    Lol.
On this other hand, SWTOR might be entertainement for the customers but it's a job for Bioware staff. I guess the moderator and the account support team aren't well versed in internet meme, it is not part of the job description I think.

This user will probably sort this out and get back to the game.

I installed this game 3 weeks ago, and have hardly played it. The main reason is because of work. There was a time when I could work 3-4 days a week and have plenty of time for gaming. Now I have a different job with long, stressful workdays that typically start early and end late, Monday-Friday (and some weekends, though rarely). When I do find a decent chunk of time that I might spend playing this, I find myself going out of the house for something instead, either hanging out with some friends who have zero interest in PC games, or running some errands or whatever, and then crashing when I get home.

Anyways, I think the game is great fun. I'd hate to unsubscribe, but I'm considering it because I feel like I'm just wasting my playing time.

You might want to try Guild Wars 2. No subscription so less of a forced sense of need to play in order to get your moneys worth. Probably a better game as well.

Star Wars: The Old Republic white lightsaber acquired through exploit, will be added officially in future

[IMG] Yesterday we highlighted a big hunt in Star Wars: The Old Republic for a vaunted white crystal. One player had been showing off a silver saber, and dropping cryptic hints as to how it was acquired. It’s time to call off the search. Bioware have responded to say that the crystal was gained through a complex exploit, and isn’t yet officially part of the game.
“CatchDeathwalker did not obtain the white crystal through legitimate means in the game. Right now, we’re removing the crystal from his possession,” reads a post on the Star Wars: The Old Republic forums. A separate comment later in the thread elaborates. “This was not an ‘easy exploit’,” Bioware say “and not something the average player might ‘stumble upon’.”

The invite-only event in March will give guild leaders a chance to provide feedback to the team, get a preview of new content, and more. If you haven't been invited, there's still time to apply.
    ... More

Im still not over the fact that Bioware, who made KOTOR, one of the best single player RPG's of all time, took the Old Republic and jumped into MMO waters with it. Sigh... I hope Mass Effect 3 is good enough to at least make me forget about this travesty.

But Mass effects sucks as well. Come to think of it, gameplay wise, so does KOTOR. Watered down Baldurs Gate in space bro, only decent thing is the story and the fact it's in the starwars universe. Ironically, even though KOTOR was heavily streamlined from Baldurs Gate (spam flurry) it ended up being much clunkyer and unintuitive. This elitist attitude that somehow Bioware are above MMO's and RTS games (even though it isn't even the Bioware people are thinking off) is ridiculous. Alot of developers in those specific genres are much better at designing games.

It's not an elitist attitude. I think an elitist attitude is putting a game down because it doesn't have as much (useless) features and rpg elements as Baldurs Gate. Things evolve. I don't see how KOTOR's gameplay sucks in comparison to Baldurs Gate. And I don't think Mass Effect sucks at all, its an rpg in it's core (if you think it isn't, you don't know what a definition of an rpg is) and a fantastic storytelling experience. Even Mass Effect 2, although the RPG elements were streamlined in favor of a more cinematic presentation and action oriented combat, it's still a role playing game at it's heart and I'd rather replay both Mass Effects again then touch Baldurs Gate again, which to me belongs in the past. It's like a wise man once said, many of the old school rpg elitists that frown upon the decrease of ´´complexity`` and lessening of ´´rpg features`` in a game like Mass Effect 2 for example, do so because they would actually love to play a sci-fi epic of such quality, but their misplaced elitist pride prevents them from doing so. Many such gamers are hung up on Baldurs Gate (in particular really, though if I was to be hung up on anything It would be Planescape: Torment) as some sort of holy grail, fail to see the advancement of cinematic presentation and evolving of storytelling mechanisms in games. And for every rpg element that seems to be missing from some of these games, more ´´choice and consequence`` elements appear and THAT is what an RPG is all about. Not stuffing the inventory with 2000 items or having 30 attribute and skill trees with 2/3 of them being useless.

And regarding Bioware and MMO, im not saying Bioware is above that in a way to demote MMORPGS but in a way that, there is too much single player storytelling talent in Bioware to waste it on making an mmo. But everyone loves $$$ and so does Bioware.

And thats why things "evolve" not because it's a design decision taken out or simplified because something is unnecessarily complicated but because if you make a game accessible by simplifying it, removing features, it makes more money. Thats exactly why KOTOR was made by the way, it was Biowares attempt to make a Baldurs Gate type RPG for consoles. It's why Bioware fanboys are getting poowy woowy over Dragon Age 2. Push button, something awsome happens. Button, awsome, buttons awsome. All day long, button awsome, forever and ever. I specifically stated why KOTOR as a badly designed game. It's simplfied yet ends up being clunkyers than Baldurs Gate. Baldurs Gate also has it's problems, namely being unbalanced DnD. I dare say KOTOR is one of the most over-rated RPG's (outside of Oblivion and Skyrim) in existence.

BioWare kicks off Star Wars: The Old Republic Q&A Fridays

When BioWare first announced the addition of a regular community Q&A feature for Star Wars: The Old Republic, the team stated that each session would answer about 10 questions. However, the first installment has gone up with a grand total of 15 and answers more questions about the Legacy system. Patch 1.2 will bring in the first set of rewards, allowing players to combine races and classes in new ways, but the company promises there will be more enhancements and expansions for future patches.

In fact, the next major patch is will bring several requested features. A new same-faction Warzone, the Hue to Chest feature, Medium and Heavy social armor, and guild banks are all on the table for the update. For players more concerned with the immediate state of the game, there are also answers about the best ways to submit feedback and how the team prioritizes which bugs to fix. It's certainly a good place to kick off the series, and community members should find something to be pleased with in the answers.

    Enjoy and discussions in session

HeroEngine licensing takes off thanks to SWTOR's success

The HeroEngine is making waves in MMO development circles these days, primarily as a result of BioWare's having used it to build Star Wars: The Old Republic. Idea Fabrik says thousands of would-be developers have licensed the tool suite in recent weeks.

The firm has also seen a sharp increase in subscribers for its HeroCloud service offering, which is basically a hosted system for making online RPGs, FPS titles, and social/casual games. Idea Fabrik COO Neil Harris says the technology is now a proven commodity thanks to its widespread adoption. "We crossed a major milestone once large games built on HeroEngine proved that our server technology can handle a hugely successful game. This lowers the perceived risk of developers in adopting the HeroEngine platform," he said.

The HeroEngine is also powering several indie sandbox titles, including Origins of Malu, The Repopulation, and Dominus. The engine was initially developed by Simutronics for a now-defunct MMO called Hero's Journey.

Another round of Star Wars: The Old Republic questions answered by the developers

It's been two months since Star Wars: The Old Republic launched, and players have some questions. So it's a good thing that the development team is still hosting a weekly question-and-answer session for the community, with the latest installment addressing several new concerns about future updates. Among the answers are new features that will be coming with the second major patch, including animation adjustments for cross-faction parity and tweaks to docking at planets with orbital stations such as Tython and Korriban.

There are also plans for players to gain the ability to roll on equipment specifically for companions; the Need option will be disabled unless the item in question is designed for your advanced class. Amidst all of the good news, however, there is some bad in the sense that new ship models and customization are apparently on the table -- but for much further in the future. Take a look at the full list of answers if you're interested in seeing what players can expect for new features in the near future and the slightly further future.
