Lets be fair Lucas would best be served in creating worlds and the effects because thats where Lucas was at his best.

See I agree, but that kinda upsets me some just "poo poo" that Nolan could do the same. Nolan has done much more grand scale action and so forth. I know some get worried about some of his flaws, but now that Wally is no longer with him, you could see a much different visual Chris. On top of that, Nolan has improved in his action, his vehicle chases were always top notch, and the first Bane vs Batman fight was his best fight yet. Then it kinda went down hill on the second Bane vs Batman fight again. But I think he's improved. As for some that worry of his over exposition, he would not be writing the script. But I think Fincher and Nolan are both in my realm of hell yes, but it does seem like a different/odd choice.

I just wonder with Horn behind this, if he will push for Nolan, though I'd rather Nolan/Fincher (likely Fincher) to work on the second act, since usually in the typical hero's journey the second act is the darkest, and more ambiguous in terms of what's good/evil.

Though I'm giddy to hear what they have picked. Because you know they probably got this locked in lol. They revealed the writer early I hope they do before Christmas as who will be the director.

On a side note how awesome would it be to have Roger be the cinematographer for Episode VII. That would be a spectacle.

See I underatand all of that. But the thing with Fincher is what makes it more exciting for me is the mystery. That we don't know how he'll do it exactly. Nolan would be a good choice, I just prefer Fincher because it's more offbeat.

Fincher's Star Wars would be beautiful. Although it's a rumor, I can't think of any other rumored directors sparking an interest in the film for me.

Probably because I'm not a major Star Wars fan.

It's a little tiresome to hear all these rumors but from what Alan Horn hinted at, it sounds like they have a director and it's just negotiations at this time. I can see someone getting hired before Christmas.

My only thing with Fincher is that he's so meticulous that I hope a guy like Ford can handle his style!

Having Harrison say: "I know." for 100 takes lol.

Allow me to hurl myself onto the Fincher bandwagon.

I do like the idea of what kind of acting talent he might attract. I could totally see Rooney Mara as an alien... she has an alien look to her, doesn't she?

Well it's obvious but no Reznor, at all. (If Fincher is picked) Either John or Michael.

I'm still a big fan of Fincher directing this movie. Would love to see him cast RDJ in a role. He worked with him in Zodiac.

I think when it comes to this board the issues with Nolan run deeper than whether his style fits the Star Wars universe, there is 7 years of ill feeling between posters that don't like his Batman films and the hardcore section of fans that worship them.

As for Fincher, his talent is without question but has he ever directed an action set piece or shown any hint of a sense of fun? not really IMO. He'd be a leap into the unknown but at this juncture, with Bird seemingly out and Verbinski not even rumoured, I'd rather take that leap with Fincher than see Favs or Vaughn at the helm.

Given where Ford's career is right now I think he'd be more willing to go with the flow to be part of something huge again.

He should shoot the entire thing with the cast from Social Network.

Well, lets not go too far...

As much of a one liner as that was, that cast is actually pretty well versed in acting and a couple of them would actually not be out of place.

There are quite a few of them I wouldn't mind, but a big **** no to Timberlake or Hammer.

And that's what I figured. I understand that the nuts on the "love" side of Nolan get extremely annoying, but to me so does the, "I hate him because he's popular/because of those that love him." To me I separate that and look at the man's actual talent, which is in the top tier of Hollywood. But I understand the knee jerk reaction by some with it, but I say look at his actual work, and just like Fincher he could evolve and do something different.

I also agree about Ford, he will do anything now lol. And to work with such a high talent like Fincher, I doubt he would complain.

Holy crap, I have a new number 1. Fincher would own it. Though, there's zero chance he'll do it.

It'd be worth it, to see him kill off Jar Jar Binks in the opening credits Alien 3 style.

I thought Fincher was actively pursuing this?

I think what has happened is that things seeped out of their respective forums and popped up all over the Hype relating to Nolan's Batman films, fans of other characters constantly had his name brought up as to why the Batman movies were superior to that films etc...I think some also worry about his "realism" but if people really look at his Batman movies they are not realisitc, especially when he uses something like The Bat, he merely mooulded his Batverse into a real tech based extension.

Reprising Han Solo would be an awesome swansong for his action movie career.

It's ambiguous. It sounds like he may only want to do one film, not all three.

I think the Mouse is going to make him an offer he can't refuse, though. Plus he has that tie with Kennedy. And he's already connected to Disney through 20,000 Leagues.

Also

Star Wars Trilogy > Girl with Dragon Tattoo Trilogy

He can just title Episode IX: The Jedi with the Hutt Tattoo if he wants.

Oh ya. And I'm not saying that's right, but I guess I see it as childish as people going overboard with the love, holding it against Nolan's skills as a director. And as you said that is the thing I find most funny. For years and years and years, people have stated how his films especially Batman are not that realistic, and people need to stop thinking they are, that they are still fantasy. Then when some suggest him for Star Wars right away the same people say "Wait his films are too realistic!" lol. I think he could easily do fantasy, and easily do the genre. I mean the man is not stupid, and if we can realize he would have to change a lot of his style, so would he I'm sure. I mean the man is a huge fan of Star Wars so I think he would get that.

But seeing Fincher on there does excite me, and I would be thrilled if he got the job. And I'm sure he would only do VII, they probably will do an OT and have a different director for each one.

As for Han, hell yes. Put him back in his awesome ESB garb and he still would look like a total bad ass. That and I hope he still says "Sweetheart" in his typical manner ;)

I'd Like To Direct This only because it be fun casting actors to add the the Star Wars Legacy. Well except for Hayden of course. But really I'd have such ideas that would be great and not per say have to deal with any novel but film history maybe.

However since its not me mr nobody. I would like to see at the last minute Gore Verbinski or Deltoro get the call.

i would rather risk the whole new SW franchise with Fincher than watch a SW from a generic director.

Exactly. Let's get the taste of the prequels out of our mouths. Spice things up, do something different. Not just bring in a fanboy director who is going to be a pushover to the producers.

I wonder if once the director is signed. They will sign Thor & Loki ? Since both want to be in the movie & there is Disney's added viewing audience right there with those two

Fincher is that guy that you don't think would be good for the movie, yet somehow he would be perfect. Someone who has a solid grasp on storytelling and taut direction.

fincher imo is just best at a certain type of film
