Ya Nolan is out. Though I wonder (and maybe hope) that Episode VII or IX will be something of interest to him.

Just IMO, I really hope it's not of interest to him. Nolan's a good director but doesn't seem like a good Star Wars director to me. Maybe I'm too narrow minded.

I know but in my opinion I think some are narrow viewed on it. And him doing a sci-fi in space may change many peoples minds. Interstellar was going to be Spielberg's 2001, but I'm glad he gave it to Nolan.

That's exciting. If he can do a great space sc-fi film I wouldn't be opposed to him doing Star Wars. But I gotta have proof! :)

For all we know Interstellar could be a low budget 'Moon' type film. Or it could fall apart. I'm only ruling out those who flat out say 'no'.

If he jumps on, it will be when there's individual SW films, so he can tell the story he wants, rather than just fill in Lucas' outlines.

Nolan stated in an interview not too long ago that he purposefully keeps the number of vfx shots in his films below 500 because of his techniques. Can yall imagine a modern Star Wars film with only 500 vfx shots? Cause I cant and Im not sure I want to. Nolan has a style and it isnt space opera.

I think we can rule out Nolan. Apparently he is doing 'Interstellar'. It seems Vaughn will get the job in the end. (My dream is to see Blomkamp directing it, but sounds difficult)

Well, screw what I said about Nolan taking a break. :funny:

From from doing press and premiers in July to this past week, I'm sure he got a few good months of break.

Steven Spielberg just got freed up. With one of his movies on hold

But he's already said he won't do it.

He can always end up changing his mind, Which has happened before with some directors. We will never really know. Until Disney announces a damn director

Before month's end. But Spielberg won't do it out of principle.

The original only had 360, and it did pretty well. And the last "Modern" Star Wars I really was not impressed with lol.

I think he would probably do a little differently, I could have sworn though TDKR used much more then 500.

Except Lucas is a genius.

He is. A genius businessman. He changed Revenge of the Jedi to Return of the Jedi because one less letter was gonna make him an obscene amount of more money. Money which he could then use to fund Jar Jar.

Was it only that the reason though? I felt that revenge is also too strong a word for the Jedi and the Jedi would never do anything for revenge.

That is actually the reason. Revenge seems like a dark term, and is usually coupled with hate. Goerge said that in interviews before the prequels I believe,
And Excelsior, I think Lucas didn't have Jar Jar in mind back then. To be fair, I feel like any old concepts from the OT time, such as Anakin being burned and fighting Obi-wan on a lava planet, were ones that for the most part worked out fantasticly. Jar Jar felt like one of the new ones, anew attempt at a Chewie-type character that back fired horribly.
