I remember they had a commercial on Sci Fi or an interview or something about who was smarter, Carter or MacGyver, and RDA said Carter's probably more book-smart, but MacGyver was more resourceful. Something like that.

I didn't know he was MacGyver till just before Atlantis started and I saw a TV special about Stargate with Amada Tapping taking the piss out of him. I think it was an out take from Season 1 or 2.

Still funny:D

I'm sure someone played that clip back to him when SG-1 hit that milestone.

Doctor Who creator doesn't care for Stargate

Sunday - December 21, 2008 | by Darren Sumner

As actor David Tennant and executive producer and new series creator Russell T Davies prepare to exit Doctor Who next year, casting is underway for the next actor who will fill the iconic British television role. But one actor who is apparently off the table: Robert Carlyle, who was rumored to be in contention before he signed to head Stargate Universe last week (story).

In a new interview with BBC Radio 5 at a press event following a screening of this week's new Christmas episode of Doctor Who, Davies expressed his surprise at Carlyle's decision.

"Stargate, can you believe it?" Davies said. "That was a surprise. Has his agent watched it?"

In the U.K., of course, Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis have been top ratings performers for Sky One, just as Doctor Who has regularly topped the charts for the BBC.

Davies's own science fiction television show has benefited tremendously from the casting of feature film-quality actors such as Tennant. In the 5-minute interview, he says that the quality of actors being rumored for the show speak highly of how far it has come in its four years on the air.

Stargate Universe premieres next summer on the SCI FI Channel in the United States. The Doctor Who Christmas special, "The Next Doctor," airs Christmas Day on BBC 1.

Ironic indeed, given that Davies' episodes of Doctor Who are often some of the worst.

having never seen the original 'Who' save for a few random episodes when I was a kid, I have no issue with the current series, but it's bad form to bash what has proven to be a successful franchise in the Sci-fi genre.....Sci-fi is endangered and people should stick together

David Hewlett should read this since he's a big Doctor who fan and jokingly said "Sorry Doctor who for not winning this award"

Vegas was good, the finale was ok, I found the last scene a little hard to swallow, but maybe it's just the version I got.

I just find it idiotic that there are only 2 people in 2 galaxies that can work the chair. Just my opinion. O'Neil must have been out on a fishing trip, with the barber.

I actually thought it was a terrible Finale. In my opinion they took this show which was prettygood, and rushed it right out the door. What I mean is the last few episodes did not feel right, the show felt..off.. to me. Then they end the show what seems to me to be a big pile of...crap.

I was buying up all the seasons on DVD before the announcment that they were ending the show. I wont be buying the last season as it just went way down hill for me.

They should have gave this show one more season to wrap things up properly.

I really don't get two things....

A) why bother downloading ilegal unfiniished copies when they are on next week and the week after....

B) Why people are calling this a bad season.... Season 2 was bad IMHo.... this is far far from being bad.... it's the best season of the show since the first... and imho the best over all.

You're kidding right? They went out in a complete wimper of a series finale. Awful just like the entire season. Every episode has been filler. Nothing more. Although I admit I did like some of them but not have a seasonal arch is really unforgiveable for a tv series.

Wait, not having a seasonal arch is how Stargate started. For the first few years of SG-1, it was pretty much explore a new planet, explore a new planet, explore a new planet, quick G'ould episode, explore a new planet, explore a new planet, meet aliens that will be important in later seasons, explore a new planet, explore a new planet, ...

The idea of season long archs is didn't come about until season 7 of SG-1 and then Atlantis. And I was starting to miss the old formula. If anything, I wish they had done more planet exploration the last couple of seasons.

you're so wrong... there was ongoing plot, it's just in the first two seasons we didn't know what they were or if said plots were going anywhere, daniel's wife, apophis invasion. But they are there. I agree with the other poster, poor form this year.

I didn't think the finale was terrible, but it was a bit too pat. Enemies develop a bigger, better weapon and use it to threaten Earth, SGC people fight back and pull out a win in the face of overwhelming odds with a last-minute deus ex machina. We've seen this a billion times before. The few shocks they tried to pull out weren't even good, either; [blackout]I thought Ronon might actually stay dead, since Momoa had said he might not stick around for another season anyway, but the way he died was really lame and unsatisfying, and the idea that Atlantis' arrival on Earth might declassify the Stargate program would've meant doom for any future series or movies, so I knew that was a fake-out[/blackout]. Just not really that impressive on any front, especially since it came after "Vegas," which had an interesting concept and a solid execution from start to finish.

And, for the record, I watched the episodes online because I don't have cable, so I didn't even know that they hadn't aired on Sci Fi yet. They both looked pretty finished to me, though.

I never liked how stargate always aired elsewhere first before airing in the US....we should get it first

Technically, if you want to get territorial about it, Canada should get it first. It is filmed there.

but it's paid for by an American company....it's not about territory, it's about money....that's like if I bought a sandwich and just gave it to you.....

Other countries' TV stations pay to air the show as well, you know, so it's not really like that at all. It's more like if a Greek guy opened up a falafel shop in the US and didn't go out of his way to make sure a fellow Greek person got served first.

yes but it is produced by American dollars.....henceforth we should come first....we gave the world modern sci-fi
