For anyone who is confused about SGU
The group get to the destiny (the ship) by use of the 9th chevron, which also requires an enormous amount of energy to be dialed, more than is stored in your standard gate. There is a gate on the destiny and will be used to allow the teams to explore planets and find supplies in order to survive on the ship. They can't go home because the ship is automated and they're too far away to dial earth, they'd need alot of extra power to do this, which I assume isn't available to them. There will be shuttles on the destiny but I'm not sure when they'd be used as I guess most travel will be via stargate. Oh yeah one thing I've missed, the people on the destiny weren't ment to be there, they're all at a facility that is researching the 9th chevron and the destiny myth, when it's attacked, they're supposed to dial earth but Dr.Rush sees this as his only chance to get to the destiny, so he dials it, trapping himself and everyone on the destiny.

I have to say, I've never really been into Stargate before, but I'm interested in watching Stargate Universe when it begins. I just hope that I dont have to watch the previous two series to be able to understand this.

Because Amanda Tapping is in it. :p

I'll probably go to the Sanctuary panel at Con.

why is it the past 2 summers Ive gone to SD, like no one from the Hype went, now all of a sudden this summer, when Im not going there are like a ****load of people from the Hype going??

Apparently it's going to be easy for newcomers to the franchise to understand SGU, with no previous knowledge needed.

Higher ratings and more money for the people making it. Fun for them, I'm sure. ;)

Well I guess I've got nothing to worry about I've been a Stargate fan from since SG-1 and I've followed this series ever since then . I've got both Stargate SG-1 & Atlantis on dvd as well as the original movie . I can't wait for Stargate Universe .

I'm exactly the same as you, though not that fond of Atlantis' later seasons.

I've never liked Atlantis as much as SG1 honestly{even though I think Atlantis had better writing}.

I liked them both, but SG-1's middle seasons were better than anything Atlantis produced to me. Atlantis got pretty annoying with its stunt deaths, too.

That trailer looks promising, and really dark. I like the new stargate more than the crap Atlantis one.

I'm still a little uneasy about it. It almost looks like it's not the SG1/SGA universe but in a cool good way.

Heya,

It looks a little bit more "Action" oriented, but also more "Adult," so I guess this can be a good thing. I'm still pretty unsure about it, but I'll give it a chance now, tho.
