State your opinion a character - Part 1

The best things about Balder are Simonson and Karnilla. Has he shown his light powers since the rebirth?

:thor: :thor: :thor:

Once, I think, during the arc when the Asgardians were relocated to Latveria.

Anyway, Balder's awesome; his absence in the Thor movie, while understandable, was nonetheless still noticed. I'm just assuming he'd been going at Karnilla for those three days.

I have no real opinion of Balder. I've read very little with him in it. My first real try at Thor was during Diassembled and he was dead there. Then he wasn't really around much in the first 8 or 10 issues of Strakzynski's Thor run that I read. Then during Siege he was just kinda there.

So no real opinion. I'd probably like him as he comes accross as the "other guy" to Thor and the Warriors Three and I'm always a fan of the "other guy."

When I think of "Asgardians" I think of Sif and Balder first

He's an awesome character who I do not think has ever reached his true potential.

I'd love to see him branch out and be part of a main line team somewhere else such as the Avengers.

I agree completely. The Asgardians have a ton of potential overall, and Balder is one of the greatest characters from Marvel's Asgard.

Lotsa love for Balder! Personally, I love the character design and how it's beautifully drawn by Coipel. But he was written acting like an idiot when he was king so I'm so-so with him at best.

On to the next one...

Magneto!
Magneto.jpg

He's a classic villain turned hero turned hero turned villain turned hero who has seemingly died only to not be dead only to seemingly die only to not be dead and who was cloned and rapid aged. You know, the usual.

What do you think of him?

has came dangeroulsy close to sucking, like all great characters by overuse and stupid characteristic shifts ( becoming a good guy and leading the Xmen i dont think so) but freaking fassbender "Xmen 1st class" was so good, he still rocks as a deeply complex baddie!

The lowest point ever for dude! how are you going to strike fear in people hearts or get em to follow you in that outfit?!?! Opera gloves?!?Hahahahaha Hells Naw!!

So, he's a nice guy, he's pure evil, he wants revenge on the evil world, he supports people, he kills, but he never killed, he's powerful enough to make Earth rotate in the opposite direction, but then he gets his arse handed to him by a bunch of kids

I hate how they handle him

He's killed a lot of people actually.

I have no problems with Magneto really. The core problems you guys are saying are no less true for Dr.Doom, Kang, Ultron, Osborn etc...

I don't believe Ultron has ever been a good guy.

Magneto is a character I take an issue at a time. I really do love his character but I feel like they've ran out of stories to tell with him. I was excited for what would come during the whole Genosha Nation plot in the 90/00's but it's conclusion (Eve of Destruction) fell a bit flat. Then his follow up story was Grant Morrison's Xorn/Planet X which I thought was great, and then it was retconned into not being Magneto, so scratch that.

He was interesting alongside Xavier in Excalibur but that didn't last long and he's just kinda been there since he was brought into the Uncanny X-Men book. I'm bored of the ongoing love plot with Rogue and over all I'm just waiting for something to happen. You can't have Magneto on the X-Men to play second fiddle and soldier to Cyclops. There needs to be more there... for good or bad.

All in all I do really like the character but he's not really been an ideal hero or villain for years. I really want to see a good Magneto/Xavier story again but they just kinda ignore each other. I do believe that he's beyond the cackling bad guy role and really does need to stick with the vigilante/hero thing but he needs to be made interesting again without regressing back to the bad guy.

Ultron Mark XII. He thought of Hank as a father and wanted to be called Mark. But Ultron 11 came back from Battleworld with The Thing and then proceeded to kill him until he was dead.

:ST: :ST: :ST:

Osborn has had amnesia in the past and was good for a nice stretch.

:gg: :gg: :gg:
Hitting his head doesn't really count, he was basically an a-hole his whole life, the Green Goblin was his true self since he was working with Stromm before betraying him

hmmm i dont think Thanos has ever rescued a cat outta a tree!

He would if he thought it'd get him another gem...

what? would it be the "Hello kitty" gem?!:cwink:. that dude never turned good. i hate really good bad guys turning good. you need really good antagonist for the heroes to vanquish! geez!

He wanted to live like a farmer after the Infinity Gauntlet.

:doom: :doom: :doom:
thats not turning good though Frankie! he just wanted to sow some more evil plans( get it 'sow" haha farmer get it) just cause you go off an get all " green aces" doesnt mean you tread the straight and narrow. he was just regrouping and watching' The waltons" and junk!:cwink:... or maybe "the dukes of hazzard" you can get some pretty evil plans from watching that *&^%! haha
