Fantastic character. I love that they went the obvious rout with his spin-off, the already tired genre of the vampire private detective, and instead of falling into the usual themes of forbidden love and desire, used it to talk about existentialist morality and the abuse of corporate power. I love how he's basically your standard Anne Rice protagonist, but the narrative actually calls him out on his brooding vanity and kind of turns it into a joke to add levity to the story. I like how, at his core, stripped off all the gloom and noir atmosphere and hair gel, he's just a guy who's done some awful things in his past who's trying to clear his conscience and do the right thing.
