Grimjack

From Wiki:

"Grimjack is the main character of a comic book originally published by First Comics. John Ostrander and Timothy Truman are credited as co-creators of the character, although Ostrander had been developing Grimjack with artist Lenin Delsol before Truman's arrival on the project according to Ostrander's own text piece in Grimjack #75. In that same essay, the writer also revealed having initially conceived the character to be the star of a series of prose stories, set in a post-apocalyptic Chicago.
Grimjack is the street name of John Gaunt, a sword-for-hire, ex-paramilitary, war veteran and former child gladiator. He operates from Munden's Bar in the Pit, a slum area of Cynosure, a pan-dimensional city to which all dimensions connect."

So, he's basically a pirate hero of sorts?? If so, I pass, not really into them which is another reason I never paid any attention to the Pirates Of the Caribbean films.

I honestly don't know. The above description of him sounds all over the place. Like what would happen if you let a child make a comic character.

"An' he's a soldier, anna pirate, anna Gadiator, anna bounny hunner an e' lives inna future!"

:o

Part of that is what makes comics as fun as they are. If you take that concept and make it work, it's awesome. Of course, it does fall flat if you can't, but so do simpler ideas.

Yeah, I agree. That's what makes something like Axe Cop so much fun. But context is everything, and I really don't get the impression that Grimjack's randomness is meant to be deliberate.
Could be wrong though.

Black Tom Cassidy
Cable
Assassin
Voltron shaped like Az-Bat uniform

Aaaaaand wtf? He's a cowboy?

You guys have no idea. Grimjack is not a pirate hero -- he's more of an anti-hero. I guess I'd describe him as a cross between Snake Plissken and Rick Deckard. Ostrander and Truman made quite the team -- mixing post-apocalyptic sci-fi with hard-boiled film noir. Great action and pacing, I've always enjoyed Ostrander and Truman's tales as a result of getting into indie comics when I started with the '80s run of Ninja Turtle comics. You can't really judge Grimjack till you read it, so give it a shot.

But judging things you have only the basest comprehension of is every comic nerds God given right!
Nah, I might look into it. :yay:

Stan Lee's Boom Studios character:

"Half Human. Half Alien. All Weapon. When an alien parasite falls to Earth, wheelchair-bound college student Stewart Trautmann becomes infected, and goes through super-human changes that no mortal could imagine. Forced into a galactic war that’s chosen Earth as the battlefield, Stewart defends the front line as…SOLDIER ZERO!"

I don't know what DnA is, but a few years ago Paul Cornell wrote a Doctor Who two-parter so good I'm still recovering from watching it.

His involvement alone is enough make me a little bit interested in this book.

The writing team of Dan Abnett and Daniel Lanning.

If you get the chance, read their Annihilation mini series from Marvel.

Best event ever.

Oh yeah, that's one of the books I've been meaning to read before Guardians of the Galaxy comes out. It's basically Marvel's answer to Sinestro Corps War, right?
Definitely going to have to check that out.

Well, I'm pretty sure it came out before Sinestro Corps war, but either way, it was waaaaaay better.

Alien parasite falling in Earth
Reminds me of Earthworm Jim
Ok, looks promising

Eh, I have nothing against the girls but I'm more of a Dexter's Lab guy.

I dig em both. If they never had a crossover, they totally should.

Never cared for the Power Puff Girls & never will.
