State Your Opinion on A DC Character - Part 2

Felix Faust is the sort of character that only really works in the hands of a writer like Gardner Fox who wrote stories where the plot was the main thing. Geoff Johns usage of him is a great example of how not to write a character like that. I don't think there is a place for him in modern comics where the shock is the thing.

Didn't Johns make him a fricking gross creepy rapist or something like that

I didn't like that :csad:

Silver age Felix Faust was fun though and the animated version was the good kind of creepy helped by the fact he was voiced by Robert Englund

Pfft, Zombies are when the dead rise and start doing s**t. Technically, Frankenstein's Monster is a Zombie.

I'd say Frankenstein's Monster has more in common with clones than zombies. An entirely new being created in a lab by mad science

He's a bunch of zombies, sown together.

Grundy's a Zombie.

I define zombies as decrepit, mindless, undead creatures that want to eat or kill living creatures in some manner, turning them into zombies as well. The difference between them and vampires being that vampires don't look dead and have a mind of their own.

Zombies don't have to stick to one particular set of rules, just as werewolves and vampires have changed or been tweaked for different medium. Sometimes werewolves turn into wolf-man monsters, some into actual wolves, some only during a full moon, some can transform whenever they want. Some vampires turn to ash in the sunlight, sometimes they...sparkle? Some are vulnerable to silver; and sometimes they don't have that weakness. Some zombies are slow, others fast, some are mentally impaired or just plain dumb, others actually learn and adapt, some are undead, others originated from a virus. I don't like the idea that these monsters have to be limited to outdated rules or troupes. Only the most important troupes count; A zombie is a zombie as long as they are infected or undead creatures that crave flesh, a vampire's a vampire as long as they crave blood and show some supernatural/superhuman power(s), and a werewolf's a werewolf as long as they turn into some wolf-like body.

Sorry, I just like talking about the Monster Trifecta. I love those monster-types, and I may never get a chance like this to converse about all three of them.

Anyway, to stay on topic...yay, Black Lanterns...

Johns had him try to rape Isis when she was under a spell and she tore his testicles off. Pure ****.

Old felix is one of the very, very few DC characters I pretty much have no opinion on. He's the very definition if Meh.

I love Felix Faust. One of the things I love the most about DC is their magical characters/realms/places/mythos.

I know right? Guy sold his kids soul to the devil. Gotta count for something right?

Dr. Destiny has the creepy mind invasion thing going on. You can get more narrative mileage out of that than generic evil sorcerer. He was awesome in Sandman.

Yes, he was.

Anyway.

I'm selling your soul for a cheese Danish!

Krypto is awesome. Too pure a character for the sick rape and gorefest that comics have become but he was perfect for a time when comics were aimed at children of all ages and not nerdy losers.

If you REALLY want me to get off of your lawn all you have to say is please.

In any event, I am generally a fan of Krypto. The only thing I find irksome about him is that I find the idea of Krypton being home to two seperate speices that are superficially identicial to two other seperate Earth speices just strains credulity far too much for my tastes.
